More New Arrivals

As previously mentioned, I had a bit of a spending spree a couple of weeks back, and this week, two more packages arrived.

The first was from Wellington, NZ and was second Flak 36/37 88mm gun to help deal with all the superior allied armour my Blitzkrieg Germans will have to take on one day!

The second parcel, which arrived on Friday, was from 1st Corps in the north of England, and contained a Fallschirmjaeger platoon.

The platoon comprises 3 x 10-man sections plus two officer figures.

There are 2 x 2-man LMG teams, so I only put one of them out for the photo session.

To be honest, I don't think these are as nice as the 1st Corps Blitzkrieg standard infantry - I would say they were sculpted by a different person - but hopefully they will look all right once they are painted.

I have three other smallish orders on the way as well, so I am going to have enough lead, plastic and resin to keep me going for several months work, I think!

Thanks for having a look - a couple of game reports are in the offing too - see you again soon!

  1. I do love the Rubicon kits and have my eyes on a couple for a new project. That said they are incredibly fiddly and just seeing that 88 I had flashbacks to assembling mine. The air was blue as bit pinged across the room. Got there in the end and well worth the effort. :)

    1. Yes, I know what you mean Michael! I had some issues with the 88 assembly the first time around, particularly the parts (I don't know what you would call them!) that allow the finished weapon to elevate - I had them done and the, they all fell apart, and I had to disassemble two or three stage and redo them! But, as you say, it is worth the effort, once you get it right!

  2. Nice new toys Keith:). Hopefully the should paint up fine, as the FJ jump suit and trousers were rather on the baggy side.

    1. Thanks Steve - the painted examples on the FC website look fine, it's just in the flesh, the bare metal is less impressive that the figures I already have from their range!

  4. Very nice Keith. I’m having huge problems posting comments on both your and Norms blogs at the moment so I hope this gets through! The last couple obviously didn’t on previous posts. Mmmm. Annoying.

    1. JBM, my posts, here, typically go straight into Keith's SPAM folder. Yours may share the same fate.

    2. Hmmm....strange....but as I am now aware this is "a thing", I regularly check the spam on Blogger, and as of 12 hours ago, there was none....I will take another look shortly!

    3. I just checked Spam, there was only one thing in there....and it was 100% actual spam....so it's another Blogger mystery JBM!

    4. Keith I suspect the issue has resolved itself somehow since this comment obviously got through okay.

  5. Be interesting to see how the First Corps figure paint up, must admit I don't have any of their figures in my pile at all, although I really do fancy their US/Mex ones. Rubicon kit looks very nice too.

  7. More toys! If BTD still sells them, their WWII sculpts were quite good.

  8. As you say, the painting up will tell all, but to my eye they look promising.

Odd about the blog posting thing. I have no problems here, but some blogs need me to press the ‘publish’ button 4 times before the comment will post.

    1. thanks Norm! Re Blogger posting - yes - not sure what that is all about - intermittently, I have had similar issues posting - I have usually put it down to my dilapidated old laptop - 10+ years old - because it NEVER happens with my work supplied Samsung phone! If I have a run of issues, I tend to restart the laptop, and while it grinds through that process for ten minutes, I hop on the Blog via my phone, and make my comment!

  9. As Norm says, sometimes figures can be surprising and paint up far better than first impressions would indicate. You must have a lot of 88s by now.

    1. Hopefully so, Lawrence! As to 88,s, I have three, one 20mm, and two 28mm...oh, and half a dozen 15mm!

  10. It’s always nice to get new toys Keith….
I suspect once they are painted they should fit in okay with your other troops…

    All the best. Aly
