First of the First Corps Fallschirmjaegers Painted

There is a lot of stuff nearing fruition on the painting desk currently, plus another Zombicide AAR I need to share, but tonight it's the first (of three) sections of Fallschirmjaegers. Each section comprises an NCO with SMG, two 2-man MG34 LMG teams and seven rifle armed Schuetzen. These are based up as two lots of three riflemen, the two LMG teams and the NCO and one rifleman.

Again, I am not so keen on these First Corps figures as their Wehrmacht equivalents - given the choice again, I would probably go with Crusader instead - but they will do the job and as we all know, it does not really matter what they look like - sometimes the oldest, most poorly painted figures are the ones that win the game for us!

The whole section - once again, based on 50mm rounds of my own creation.

They have turned out fine - just not awe inspiring - I will be working on something different for the next few days but the next post will likely be last week's Zombicide encounter at Julians place!

Thanks for dropping in for a visit and I hope you find time to leave a comment!

  1. A nice selection and a perfect fit for the 50mm rounds. I’m really glad I took steps to secure ‘that green’, though I have not used it in anger yet :-)

  2. Some great looking figures Keith, dunno if I'd fancy having that LMG being fired from my back like that!!

    1. I know Ray, right??! Its the classic German LMG pose so presumably it was common practice, but I agree with you, I would not fancy it either!

  3. Love those figures Keith- I have to confess, my First Corps Fallschirmjager are some of my all time favourite figures- and I've had them for over 25 years- two full battalions with support weapons for Rapid Fire. You've got a tidy force there. I like them!

    1. Thanks a lot John...I thought I probably "needed" them, if I was going to "do" early war Germans accurately!

  5. They look excellent, Keith! I also second the comment here that I would not want to be the assistant gunner in that LMG crew. It's loud enough for the guy firing!

    1. Thanks Mark - they are not bad figures; I just think the Crusader ones would be better - I nearly got a platoon deal of them but it was a few quid more and several figures less......you pays your money and all that...!

  13. Nicely done Keith and a coincidence as I have just prepped a bunch of Fallschirmjager my self. I agree crusader sculpts are particularly nice but my latest additions are Black tree I think and pretty good.

  15. If poorly painted figures won battles then I’d be UNSTOPPABLE!!!
But seriously even ‘good enough’ painted miniatures often turn out looking great once on the battlefield. 😀

  18. They have scrubbed up well Keith….
Once you get them on the table you will be having too much fun( or despair if you roll dice like me) to notice anything about the figures sculpting…
Will you be building a glider… or two to go with them?

    All the best. Aly
