GNW Swedish Infantry Project Completed

Tonight I present for your delictation the last exciting installment in my Great Northern War Swedish Infantry project, the previously introduced Halsinge Regimente.

Full regiment advancing in all their Scandinavian glory!

The grenadiers complete with the Carolean double C cipher

"Ga Pa chaps!"

Aerial view of the basing, which I think has come out quite nicely

The Swedes charging towards the empty horizon!

I have already commenced the first cavalry regiment, which is the Karleska Regiment, the only one of the five units currently planned to be sporting the Karpus headgear

My source for cavalry flags is not quite as inspiring but here is the standard for the unit (one side is shown in the image above too)

That's it for tonight - hopefully will have some cavalry figures to regale you with in the not too distant future!

  2. Glorious finish to your Swedish infantry. How long before another foot regiment creeps into the painting queue?

    1. Well yes Jon...quite! I have already mentioned I have room for three more - I would like to look at some of the Warrior range from League of Augsburg, just for a little variety - but they will work out literally twice the price per battalion - is variety worth the expense...we shall see!

  3. Kieth,
Nice work there on the Swedish Regiment. All flights cancelled tonight from AUS and NZ...we are back into Lock Down - again! Cheers. KEV.

    1. Thanks Kev - REALLY - I had no heard that - I thought it was only between NSW and NZ - Queensland and Vic were still ok at that stage? We have a bit of a panic on in Wellington where one of your countrymen wondered around all weekend, breathing the plague everywhere - pubs, Tepapa Museum, cafes etc etc!

    2. Kieth,
Yes- I understood that there were to be no flights to NZ. We've got a problem in Sydney with over 30 people infected- the authorities are onto it though...restrictions are in full swing here. Best Wishes. KEV.

    1. Cheers Neil - I am glad I was able to do some variety earlier on - 12 regts of blue faced yellow might have become a bit repetitive!

  12. Great looking figures, Keith! Love the individual looks - grenadiers with big mustasches and officers in wig!

    1. Yes they are nice figures for sure Dean - some of the charging ones are a bit repetitive but you can say that for any range I guess!

  14. Looking good Keith. I like the details on the mitres.

I guess the Karelska boys were Karelian. In which case maybe they’ll be shouting “hakkaa päälle!” when the colonel orders ”gå på poikar!”

  15. Great job Keith, and isn't it nice to be able to use the word "completed"? I'm looking forward to the cavalry, and whether you might get some satisfaction from painting horses this time around.

    1. Lol thanks Iain....perhaps! The good thing is the Swedes have to be a relatively small force because any opponent needs to have around twice as large an army to have any hope of winning ...twelve btns is probably already on the big side, looked at from that perspective!
