Tonight I present for your delictation the last exciting installment in my Great Northern War Swedish Infantry project, the previously introduced Halsinge Regimente.
Full regiment advancing in all their Scandinavian glory!
The grenadiers complete with the Carolean double C cipher
"Ga Pa chaps!"
Aerial view of the basing, which I think has come out quite nicely
The Swedes charging towards the empty horizon!
I have already commenced the first cavalry regiment, which is the Karleska Regiment, the only one of the five units currently planned to be sporting the Karpus headgear
My source for cavalry flags is not quite as inspiring but here is the standard for the unit (one side is shown in the image above too)
That's it for tonight - hopefully will have some cavalry figures to regale you with in the not too distant future!
Looking mighty fine Keith, I shall look forward to the Karelska Cavalry.
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray appreciate the comment!
DeleteGlorious finish to your Swedish infantry. How long before another foot regiment creeps into the painting queue?
ReplyDeleteWell yes Jon...quite! I have already mentioned I have room for three more - I would like to look at some of the Warrior range from League of Augsburg, just for a little variety - but they will work out literally twice the price per battalion - is variety worth the expense...we shall see!
DeleteKieth,
ReplyDeleteNice work there on the Swedish Regiment. All flights cancelled tonight from AUS and NZ...we are back into Lock Down - again! Cheers. KEV.
Thanks Kev - REALLY - I had no heard that - I thought it was only between NSW and NZ - Queensland and Vic were still ok at that stage? We have a bit of a panic on in Wellington where one of your countrymen wondered around all weekend, breathing the plague everywhere - pubs, Tepapa Museum, cafes etc etc!
DeleteKieth,
DeleteYes- I understood that there were to be no flights to NZ. We've got a problem in Sydney with over 30 people infected- the authorities are onto it though...restrictions are in full swing here. Best Wishes. KEV.
Pretty sure it's only SYD/NSW though Kev....my daughter just flew to Brisbane as a flight attendant..staying Sat night in Oz then home tomorrow.
DeleteGood looking Swedish force! They look like that mean business!!
ReplyDeleteThanks John...having just seen your own collection, I appreciate your comments!
DeleteGreat looking force, can't wait for the mounted arm!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, the cavalry are underway
DeleteAnother lovely work sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal
DeleteGreat progress and a nice painting change going to the mounted.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a change Norm...Nice? I am not so sure about that!
DeleteAnother lovely infantry unit and I look forward to seeing the first cavalry unit:).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, should have something ready in a few days
DeleteSuperb colors and great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil!
DeleteExcellent looking regiment.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark - hopefully they perform well on the table....
DeleteImpressive results and equally impressive to see you successfully close out a major stage of your project!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ed - nice to get through the infantry component although they are not my main psychological challenge!
DeleteAnother superb infantry regiment
ReplyDeleteCheers Neil - I am glad I was able to do some variety earlier on - 12 regts of blue faced yellow might have become a bit repetitive!
DeleteGreat looking figures, Keith! Love the individual looks - grenadiers with big mustasches and officers in wig!
ReplyDeleteYes they are nice figures for sure Dean - some of the charging ones are a bit repetitive but you can say that for any range I guess!
DeleteSplendid stuff Keith…
ReplyDeleteCompleted ?… sorry I don’t know that word…
All the best. Aly
Its a relative term Aly....very relative...already half planning three more infantry units....!
DeleteLooking good Keith. I like the details on the mitres.
ReplyDeleteI guess the Karelska boys were Karelian. In which case maybe they’ll be shouting “hakkaa päälle!” when the colonel orders ”gå på poikar!”
Thanks - I will have to take your word on the Swedish language!
DeleteGreat job Keith, and isn't it nice to be able to use the word "completed"? I'm looking forward to the cavalry, and whether you might get some satisfaction from painting horses this time around.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence...I have six cavalry almost done so might do a WIP report tomorrow...they have not been TOO bad!
DeleteThat really was exciting! Nice job. 😀
ReplyDeleteExciting....I think you need to get out a bit more Stew! Thanks for the compliment though 😊
DeleteLovely start to your Swedish infantry force, let's face it we all know it's just phase 1! Looking forward to all those cavalry!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Lol thanks Iain....perhaps! The good thing is the Swedes have to be a relatively small force because any opponent needs to have around twice as large an army to have any hope of winning ...twelve btns is probably already on the big side, looked at from that perspective!
DeleteCongrats on milestone completion, Keith! The regiment looks awesome as well as the rest infantrymen. Can’t stop admiring your dedication to the GNW progect and such a great acheivements.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your strong words of support and encouragement Dmitry!
