Its a while since I painted any actual figures - the Warlord Winter Russians were the last - probably 2-3 weeks ago. But I have not been idle in the meantime - au contraire, mes amis! And what follows below are the fruits of my recent labours - or some of them, at least!
First up, a couple of winter tress - these are plastic armatures from Temu, 8 or 10 for about $5 I think - they are approximately 200mm tall - a decent size compared with most model trees.
They have had some of both the recent "snow" products I bought applied to them and have a fully snow laden base. I am pretty happy with how they have turned out.
And here they are alongside one of the recent mdf ruined buildings
Brick paper sourced online and printed on colour printer
I even Googled 1930's/1940's wallpaper and printed off various patterns of that, too!

I think this may be going a bit far - it certainly adds a hell of a lot of time to the construction process - although I think it looks pretty good!

I also eventually got around to realising my idea off a half completed T34 turret dangling by chains for the Stalingrad factory building....
Pretty pleased with how that has turned out - NOW I have figure out how to do the same sort of thing with a slightly damaged 3d printed hull I have knocking around!
Finally, here is our 28mm model, posing with the painted 3D printed factory tools recently acquired from Tema
Some really nice detail with power cables, switches and an emergency stop button!
I think the lathe is still my favourite though!
Thats it for tonight - possibly a solo game in the next day or two, I will see how I feel about it.

DeleteGood looking trees and the brick paper and wallpaper work a treat, might be nice to tear the wallpaper a bit? I'm working on a gantry as well, yours is looking good! The drill and lathe have come up well, emergency stop sounds a bit modern, especially in Soviet Russia!

Thanks Iain...I had considered damaging the wall paper...maybe on the next one? I also wondered about the stop button but liked the splash of red against the dark green of the machines!

My lathe etc will be arriving this week so it was great to see how they painted up. The T34 turret is inspired and the winter trees made me want to go and put the heating on. lol.

DeleteThe trees look excellent models and will look the part on the table. The wallpaper may have added to your production time but Ii think the results show that it was time well spent, they look super. The lathes etc. have come up lovely and will really add to the table, super work all round Keith.

ReplyDeleteThanks Matt....I am certainly not going to worry about that level of detail! I didn't Google German or Russian 1940's wallpaper! I suspect most of these are actually either British or American!
DeleteWallpaper is a great idea for the interior of these buildings Keith. The factory machinery will certainly add to the flavour. Perhaps it could be an objective as the Soviets fight to stop German hobbyists from carrying it off?

ReplyDeleteImpressive trees there Keith and a bargain too! The brickwork and wallpaper works a treat:). Are you going to do something with the floors, like rugs or floorboards etc? The hoist with the turret is great and the machine tools do look the business in the dark green:).
