Slow Progress

I have finally got something finished! It's not that I have been neglecting the paint desk.... far from it. I have all sorts of things half or three quarters done...but this is the first thing I have actually managed to complete....and no games for over a week, either!

Rather obviously, it is the first of the recently purchased T34/76 tanks.

The first one is built as the early 1940 version, as I particularly like the look of the large,  single turret hatch.

The commander peeping around  from behind the hatch is the standard plastic figure that comes with each kit.

I think he looks pretty good!

I did add a few of the extra metal stowage items that came in the box set.

Final shot is a comparison between the Warlord plastic kit on the left and the Pot Belly 3d printed on the right, minus the turrets...the 3d is a bit "chunkier", but not, to my eye at least, anything to worry about or prevent them appearing side by side on the table.

Thanks for your visit and please do leave a comment.

  1. Very nice work Keith. Considering the different modes of construction between the Warlord one and the other one they look fine together…and I’m a real nit picker for slight scale differences. Top stuff.

  2. Great work Keith. The stowage looks very nice and adds to the model. I too can't spot the difference between the two in terms of scale.

  3. Very nice work Keith and the extra detailing of the stowage etc works really well. As for the slight differences, I doubt very much you would notice them on the table top!

    1. Thanks Steve. It was nice the extra bits n pieces of stowage were included. Looks like we all agree, the two models scale up pretty well together.

    1. Thank you Joe, this one is just right to take on my 38t and PzKfw III's in 1941!

  6. Splendid looking tank, Keith! Both models look very similar in scale to me. I wouldn't notice differences especially on the gaming table.

  10. The tanks look great Keith.
If anyone complains about the minor differences just respond in a superior tone "that one was manufactured in the Urals Tank Factory No. 7 production line 4, and the other was manufactured in Novgorod Tank Factory No 2 production line 6, and I thought that everyone knew they used slightly different measurements." 😂

  12. Splendid looking T34/76 it's the model I like, can't see any difference between the warlord and the 3d printed one to be honest!

    1. Thanks Iain...the 85 looks a lot different with turret on...hence the reason I left it off for the comparison shot!

  14. Great looking T-34, Keith. I usually stick with one project until completion, but lately I'm trying to start on different projects at the same time.

    1. Thanks Dean...concentrating on one task and completing it is a good way to get things done....but sometimes, variety is the spice of life!

  16. Your tanks all look great, but I reckon that this is your best yet. It looks fantastic Keith!
I was pleased to read about lots of things half to three-quarters done, but nothing completed. Below par for your output, but absolutely in line with mine!
    Best wishes, James

    1. Thanks a lot, James....to be fair, my intended output is far less than yours, so i have less of an excuse than you do for partially completed stuff!

  17. That's a damned fine looking tank Keith. A squadron of these will be quite imposing on the tabletop!

    1. Thanks Dai....I am thinking I probably have just about enough tanks now...two more T34 just about completed plus a KV and a fourth JS II...but more may be on the cards, you know what we wargamers are like!

  18. Interesting post. Terrific brushmanship BTW, and you seem to have hit off the (to me) mysterious shade of Russian tank green. I am particularly interested as I bemoan the lack of a Night Sky Miniatures (absolutely the best prints out there IMHO) T34-85 so will investigate Pot Belly as the one you illustrate here seems pretty good. Thanks!

    1. Thanks for the visit and comments and I am glad you found my post interesting! Pot Belly is just a printing service really, he has 2 different T34/85, one in $NZ25 the other is $40.... the $40 one looks no better in my opinion, so being a Scot, I have a couple of the former!
I have looked at those Night Sky models at Forge of Generals a couple of times...some of their kit may be in my future!
