More 3D printed miniatures, mostly RKX from Australia but also a few of the more recently arrived Polish prints. There are nearing completion, and they should hit the blog over the weekend
Female winter sniper - this is one of the Polish figures
This was a set of three snipers; here is the second one
And this, of course is the third.
Now onto the BM 203mm mortar - this came from Australia but isn't RKX (they do one, but this is another brand)
I am very pleased with how this has come out - but I am unsure it will ever get onto a full-size table - I will doubtless work it into a solo scenario at some point!
Close ups of the crew
The Komsolets tractor and a couple of passengers.
More Polish produced figures - a Soviet FOO and his three comms operators
This is the second telephonist
And the third is a winter version.
Close up, you can see some printing issues with the right-hand figures face - I did not notice till I was painting the figure
At table distance (above) I don't think anyone will notice?
Finally, a truly iconic pose - I am pretty sure this is based on a famous wartime photo
Here is the original image...thanks to Lawrence and Ed for inspiring me to find it...took as long as it takes to type "famous ww2 image of Soviet officer" into Google!

Lovely looking miniatures sir!
ReplyDeleteVery kind words from a master painter - thanks Michal!
DeleteOh noooo. Too ugly for traditional painting, too clean for grom&dark :)
DeleteGrim^
DeleteGreat work all round there Keith:)! Even though the mortar would rarely be seen on the table, I've seen shots of them in Berlin '45, so perfectly plausible to have one in action so to speak. As for the print lines, I can't but help see them due to my previous job, but honestly once on the table and in action, you forget about all the 'faults' with your painting etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve - they are pretty obvious with my "painting" glasses on, but I had not noticed until I started working on the face. Its the only one with the issue so obviously a production fault of some kind. The rest of the figures are beautifully produced
DeleteFantastic bunch of models there Keith. I’m sure the artillery piece could be a game objective in its own right. By the way, what print lines? I can’t see any.
ReplyDeleteThanks JBM, that's a good idea re the gun as an objective.....
DeleteGreat looking additions
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty 👍
DeleteThat gun is a Green Monster, isn't it? Great pose with the officer holding pistol overhead. I have seen a similar posed photo only showing a German.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, yes, it's a big 'un! I really like the officer's pose too.
Deletegood stuff Keith, a good start to the painting year 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt, nice to get back into the swing!
DeleteExcellent work on those figures, Keith.
ReplyDeleteCheers Richard, appreciate your kind words!
DeleteGreat work Keith, and that Soviet mortar looks like it could be suitable for a pulp game as well. I recognise that Soviet officer pose. From memory the photo was taken from around waist height looking up with only the sky as background, and came across very much like a propaganda picture.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence, that description of the photo sounds very familiar 🤔
DeleteLovely new additions Keith!
ReplyDeleteThat new arti piece should be played from your neighbour's house, two blocks down to make it accurate enough for game-use. ;)
Haha....but that would apply at a German 88mm Flak or a Commonwealth 25lb gun, too, Dai!
DeleteIndeed, that pistol-wielding figure is a fine derivation of a famous image: nicely rendered--it will do well on the table (along with the others, of course!).
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed.....I must research that image!
DeleteGreat looking figures Keith.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't worry too much about whether the artillery piece ever gets used. Half of my collection has never made it to the table 😂
Thanks Ben.....I am in a similar position unfortunately, but I would prefer to get some use out of my toys!
DeleteKeith, the tracked howitzer is a must for taking down those pesky buildings blocking line of sight into the park. Also good for renovating city blocks, the odd government building, etc. Nice collection of late war Soviets.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, glad you like them!
DeleteGreat additions to your project Keith and the gun must appear in a game, it's an absolute cracking and very imposing looking model, a real beast. Great work all round on some very nice figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Donnie - I will get it on the table by hook or by crook!
DeleteLove your new mortar, close support or as an objective, I'm sure you will get it on the table, I've been thinking about scratch building a V2 as an objective, your mortar is much more sensible! Snipers are ace and I've got the warlord version of the Soviet officer, iconic pose!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks a lot Iain, I love the officers pose too! If you want a V weapon as an objective, look at JJG 3D in France...he has one and from memory it's pretty reasonably priced....I thought about it myself!!
DeleteI just checked....in the German section at the very end...V1 and launch rail 7 euros. V2 and transporter 15 euros! Just Google JJG 3D
