Last Sunday Game of 2025

Well, its been a while! don't know what came over me really but I have been distracted by other things over the last couple of weeks - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and all that jazz!

Mark at 1866 and All That has already reported on our last game of 2025 - here are my images. I was on the right flank of the Austrian advance; Mark was our advance guard to my left, and Nick and John commanded the remainder of the Austrian generals. Nick came right to support me initially but once I was deployed, he went left to help John. Mark and I held the "hinge" position with Barry attacking, Rick hovering ready to pounce with his cavalry on my infantry if he got the chance - he never did!

John made a series of bloody attacks in the centre that initially met with success on the Bavarians extreme right, commanded by Paul, but in the centre next to Marks position, he suffered a bloody repulse and that brigade quit the field. I had to leave at that point, but Mark took over. From what I gather, Nick managed to flank the Bavarians with his huge cavalry force, Mark threw in a couple of desperate downhill charges at Barry - and all of a sudden, Barry's force morale collapsed too. The Bavarians had nothing left and ceded the field to the Austrian - a somewhat Pyrrhic victory, but better than a clear cut definitive loss!

Here are a bunch of images of the game - I have left Johns close ups even though I think they have already appeared in Marks report

  3. I thought you had been rather quiet and assumed the Xmas celebrations etc were the cause. Looking forward to some updates in due course. As for the news that broke here at 7.00am yesterday, well like you, words fail me:(! He may not have been the nicest chap, but look at many countries across the World who have rigged elections too. Oh, but they don't have oil.....!

    1. Yep,if Kuwait grew carrots, the Iraqis would still be there! Russia and China have more historical justification to invade Ukraine and Taiwan than America has for this latest action....unbelievable!

  7. And that’s why analog gaming with miniatures rather than pixels will never die. Glorious. Glad to have you back mate. As to the news, shameful silence so far from the “good guys” I notice. Hope Trump doesn’t miscalculate over Greenland or Canada.

    1. Nice to be back JBM. Canada and Denmark are NATO members so hopefully there is someone in Washington who realizes what that means for anyone who attacks them....but you do wonder, given who is there at the moment.

    1. Lol...a work colleague did a cruise a few months back from west coast US via Panama Canal to the Caribbean and down to a S American country....I did pull his leg at the time that he might be there when the Black Hawks and SEALs arrived to "liberate" the canal zone.....I thought I was joking.....

  12. That looks a great game to finish the year on Keith. Lovely photos of well painted figures. Though I have to say the image on the flag on the last pic of the Austrian grenadiers looks rather like the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies!
