These are the last three Assault Group (TAG) mounted border reivers from my not so recent purchase. As mentioned previously, these figures will form part of the royal retinue. Infantry reinforcements for Her Grace are currently en route from TAG and will hopefully arrive not to far into the new year. In the meantime, all the reiver figures I possess are completed, and I have moved on to a couple of Russian Civil War Bolshevik sailors.
Once again, very nice figures from TAG although like the mounted swordsmen, two of the three lance poses are a bit "samey"....at least being skirmish level, I wont have multiple incarnations of the same figure in my collection.
At this rate, I should manage another two or three posts before we say adieu to 2020.
Hi Keith- Very nice cavalry Figures- well done. Yes, it'll be good to see the end of 2020...with hopefully a better time ahead for the World in 2021. We're having a quiet day at home - not much happening- looking forward to New Years Eve. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev. Yes pretty quiet our way too...that's what happens when you get older!
DeleteKeith, Nice job, I think the way you approach things in small batches is agreat way of getting things done. The posing of the first sculp is very engaging.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm...my method is more by necessity than design..I would love to buy hundreds of figures every year, but my finances won't stretch to it, so I am forced to build things up slowly. It's probably just as well, if I could buy whatever I wanted, nothing would ever get finished!
DeleteMore very nice figures and small batches is the way to go for sure, as you can see results quickly, rather than a bunch of figures have finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. Yes, I see some bloggers who have 48 pikemen all under coated and with their flesh painted and think I could never face doing that number in one go!
DeleteNot 48 pikemen for me but 39 is standard...
DeleteNOOOO...39 pikemen on the painting table, all under coated black and staring up at me with accusatory glares would be too much for my psyche Jonathan!
DeleteYour horsemen look great, Keith! My painting mantra is “paint a little, often.” That way, figures become units at a steady rate. I tend to work in whole unit increments, though.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. Yes that is generally my approach too. The RCW sailors I mentioned will be a unit of fourteen, and I will paint them a base at a time. Last night I did the two command figures and will now paint batches of three until the unit is complete.
DeleteVery nice Keith, and I have been pleasantly surprised how quickly the TAG orders have arrived of late. I think it has been less than a week from receiving the shipment notice to when they have turned up.
ReplyDeleteWow that's pretty good from UK to Oz at Christmas time Lawrence! I am not too concerned but was slightly surprised that I received notification on 22 Dec that the order I made on 29 Nov was now ready for shipment! I guess it was because they had a sale on when I ordered and they were a bit swamped...
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. Found your blog as we seem to be be leaving comments on all the same blogs, so I thought I would pop on over and have a look see. Nice place! Now following along. 😀
ReplyDeleteCheers Stew - I think I have visited your blog previously too - I usually have a look at anyone who is on any of my regular haunts!
DeleteBeautiful work, Keith!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dmitry. Coming from you, that is high praise indeed!
DeleteGreat looking mounted troops, Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean - the TAG figures are very nice.
DeleteLovely figures, nicely done, painting 24 gendarmes at the same time, it seems more efficient?!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Oh dear me no - that would do my head in Iain! Efficiency be damned! Hope you have a happy New Year.
