Another Game of "Green Hordes"

Another week has passed by without much being achieved hobby wise - I have just had too many distractions! So, the end of the week arrived, and we played another game of the Green Horde Zomicide, with Chris substituting for Andrew this week.

Here are some images I took and a whole lot more close ups supplied by mate John.

First up, a couple of AI generated images of our band of "survivors' as they are termed in the game. You can choose from about thirty different "styles" so here is one each of Digital Art, Fantasy Art and Cinematic

Plus, an extra bonus one!

The game was a bit of a slog, and we lost a survivor along the way - Asim the Arabic warrior in the blue headscarf - but we finally manged to achieve the mission (recovering keys to the blue and green doors) and removing some of the Necromancers secret artifacts. We also killed off an abomination, several necromancers and a ton(ne) of zombie orcs!

SURPRISE! Its a Necromancer.

Many zombies arriving at a spawn point

I ran this character this week, Megan the Mercenary

Here she is in all her AI glory!

I dont think I got a decent image of the trebuchet last time - a very nice piece of kit!

Megan and Rolf (Julians character) dealing to some Zombie Orcs

I grabbed these two Orc runners' mid game to move them two squares, by pure coincidence, they ended up interlocked, and Julians daughter Charlie cooed "Awwwww, they are holding hands.... take a picture for your blog!" So here they are!

This must be early on because Asim is still alive!

Rolf the barbarian was MVP with a weapons combination that sliced through zombies like a hot knife through butter, although the only weapon that could kill the abomination was the trebuchets, and Berin the dwarf fired the killer shot quite early in the game, which was nice!

Now follows a series of close ups from John, I will add descriptions if I can be bothered!

Asim the AY-Rab (Chris, till he was killed off!)

SURPRISE! It's ANOTHER necromancer!

Doors.............. !!

That's it for tonight - we are all at Julians again tomorrow for an all-day game of V&F plus lunch to celebrate the big man's 70th birthday, using his original boyhood collection of 30mm Willes Figures, which, as he quipped, are almost as old as he is!

  2. Those AI-generated images look great Keith. Every one has the usual two arms and legs, as opposed to one or three. It sounds like you're enjoying Zombicide. I wish now we had encouraged a few more games, but unfortunately two members of our Saturday group were totally disinterested.

    1. Thanks Lawrence - Zombicide is fine but about half our group would not be interested, either!

    1. Thanks Iain! Funnily enough, they put the Christmas tree up at work a few days ago and I took a picture of it to share with the group, but I didn't post it in the end!

  4. Another fine beer and pretzels game there Keith and as always, the figure sculpts are superb, especially when looking back at those early Minifigs ranges! The AI images are frankly incredible and as i think I mentioned in your last post, lots of graphic designers et al must be worried sick about the future. I believe one of the main wargames mags has used an AI image for its front cover.

    1. Thanks Steve. I certainly had your comments in mind when I was producing those AI images. I heard a report this week about a well known author here in NZ (although not well enough known that I remember her name) who had her book ruled out of contention for prestigious prize because the cover was created using AII!

    2. That's mad to rule out an entry because of an AI cover, considering how much it is used across the World. I know many designers who are widely using it to help speed up the creative process.

    3. Yes I agree and the more since the competition is about the writing between the covers, not the illustration on them! I think the organisation running the awards was roundly criticised from most quarters!

  5. These models are quite incredible as are your AI renderings. Which AI engine are you using? I look forward to seeing a return to some historicals.

    1. Thanks Jon....sorry I have not figured out how to go to a second site, copy its URL and then post onto here, using my phone! I will put in a link next post!

    1. They are pretty incredible aren't they Richard...and as mentioned, despite the significant cost (in my eyes, at least) of the boxed set board game, the figures work out to be about a pound or two each!

  7. Fantastic looking game and figures Keith.
The images are great, another rabbit hole to spend/waste time in 😁
Poor Chris's character dying but in every Hollywood action movie at least one character has to die... well done Chris taking one for the team.

    1. Thank Ben and that is a very prescient comment re the AI rabbit hole, that's exactly what I have found!

  8. Not too sure if the game is for me although it does look fun but the models are really nice, they really look good. Interesting AI pictures Keith, not a rabbit hole I have fallen into yet!

    1. Thanks Donnie - it's a game I am happy to play occasionally but I would never buy myself, which is my position on all these types of games really.
The AI is a worse time waster than Netflix at the moment!

  9. The models alone are worth the entry fee. My two eldest grandchildren are reaching an age for getting involved in a bit of dungeon crawling - continue to keep my eye out for something suitable. I bought the latest and the previous D&D starter kits with a view to making a home brew dungeon from wooden tiles.

    1. Sounds like a good way to get into it, Norm - then, the rules can be as simple or complicated as they need to be, depending on the age and interest of your grandchildren.

  10. As long as you still had a bit of fun and rolled a few dice it’s all good. Doesn’t always have to be historical gaming does it?! Nice use of AI images - I used ChatGPT the other week to produce an image of the USS Enterprise (don’t ask) which would have been great if it had managed to not replace its hull registry number NCC1701 with total gobbledygook. Note - for the record (and my future safety), I’m pleased to welcome our new AI overlords.

    1. Very true JBM! The AI does seem to have issues with certain things, text being one of them.

  11. Cool looking game Keith, I love it that you've added in the AI version of the figures too, very entertaining!!
