Not many words but quite a few pics tonight. We had an extra day off work here because a couple of years ago, the government "Mondayised" the Anzac Day public holiday, meaning, when 25 April falls on Sat or Sun, we poor oppressed labouring masses get a day off on the following Monday - Urrah!
I did do other things over the three days, but I certainly got in a fair number of hours at the hobby desk on Sat Sun and Mon - and here are some of the results
The eight Warlord infantry that came with the 3 x T34/85 kit
Officer/forward observer
NCO directing the advance
Not sure how well this would work out for the guy operating the weapon platform!
Five "grunts" charging against the Fascist Occupiers
And here is one of the recent Pot Belly RKX 3d prints that arrived recently - SU100 assault gun - a 100mm gun mounted on the T34 chassis.
I jumped this one up the queue especially for Dai, who said he was looking forward to seeing it painted!
Here it is with some figures for scale - RKX tank riders from the same source on the rear
Behind the tank are from R-L 3d printed SMG gunner, 3d printed officer Wargames Factory hard plastic 28mm infantryman and 28mm Warlord hard plastic LMG gunner.
I am happy with how the eight new infantrymen turned out, and the SU100. Next time, it will probably be some more of the same ie WW2 Red Army.
Thanks for dropping in and for marking your visit with a comment - cheers!

They look really good Keith, really like the one with the Molotov Cocktail, cracking figure. Tank looks great and even better when the tank riders are added, really nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie - that is the second Molotov cocktail armed Soviet infantryman I have created from the Warlord kits - its one of their standard poses!
DeleteGreat looking infantry and smashing looking tank!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Cheers Iain, I am pleased you like them!
DeleteYou put your three-day weekend to very productive use! Great results all around.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, I thought it was a well spent weekend too!
DeleteGreat additions to the red horde, Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard. They interrupted my progress on the GNW project but I do find vehicles easier and quicker to complete!
DeleteGreat job, excellent use of your three day weekend. But where is the team carrying the ruined wall to place in front of the ATR? :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe...maybe I need to add the wall to the figures base?!
DeleteInfantry look great. I'm liking those new Soviet sculpts the more I've seen them after initially feeling they looked way too chunky/well-fed.
ReplyDeleteThat bloke with the AT rifle must have huge biceps! Scary!
Left the best for last though - that SU-100 is sweet Keith! It's a very nice print, crisp with not over-stated detail and your infantry scale up really well with it too. Might have to source one in the future. (Far off future, mind. I don't need to buy anything for a LOONGGG while!)
Cheers Dai. Glad you like the SU100! When the day comes, I can thoroughly recommend the RKX range of 3d prints, I am sure you will have a domestic supplier.
DeleteI actually own a handful of the RKX range - Canadian infantry and engineers. Very nice sculpts, if a little slight when put next to my existing plastic Warlord counterparts. But not so much they stick out terribly.
DeleteAh yes, they are very nice too, as are the FSJ range and the Berlin defenders! Odd you say they are slight, mine are the opposite...just a setting the different printers use, I guess.....
DeleteI have always had a soft spot for the SU-100 and this one looks great. The tank riders really add something extra to it, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, I love the tank riders, they are so iconically WW2 Red Army....in fact, I like them so much, I have two more sets in house and another two from a different range on order from the UK!
DeleteBeautiful looking additions sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal!
DeleteLovely additions Keith. You must have a decent looking Russian force by now
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty - yes - probably too much in reality - if I was playing CoC or Bolt Action, I would never get an opportunity to get them all on the table! That won't stop me adding more, of course - until a butterfly distracts me!
DeleteThe early war anti tank rifles are such a distinctive look--despite their short lived relevance, post 1941.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly Ed, the Red Army continued to use large numbers of them throughout the war, despite their being pretty much ineffective as AT weapons by 1942. I have seen vintage footage of them being fired at buildings in the Battle of Berlin, for example! If you Google it, you get the same story.
DeleteGreat work Keith.
ReplyDeleteThe Molotov cocktail is a great change from the usual grenade thrower.
Thanks Ben - glad you like 'em and I agree re the Molotov cocktail - although, thinking about it, I am not sure I have any Russians with grenades!
DeleteExcellent work there Keith and the SU-100 and SU-152 are sheer beasts of an AFV! Somehow I don't think that AT riflement would have been able to hold his rifle like that, but it does look cool though:).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I don't know what I was thinking when I did that pose...maybe I will rebase him so I can add a piece of wall for him to rest the ATR on!
