Some of this batch has been waiting a little while for it's chance to appear on the blog, whilst others were only finished off recently
T34/85 number 2 of 3 from the recently acquired boxed set. I believe the turret slogan is "To The West!"
This one had one of the resin tank commanders that came with the "Achtung Panzer" boxes from early last year added.
A few new tank riders from Pot Belly 3d in Wellington - two different brands - RKX and 3D Breed
They don't work so well with all the "stowage" - I should have considered that - mind you, most of my tanks don't have stowage added, so should work out fine.
Next is tank three of three
This one has a plastic commander that came with the kit in the turret hatch.
With a few tank riders again
A return visit from the SU100 assault gun - because IT has room to fit on more of the tank riders!
This last model is also from Pot Belly, but I have had it 12-18 months
An 8-wheel SdKfz 234/1
I mistakenly got it to paint panzer grey for early war, then realised too late that even with its 20mm "pop gun" this vehicle was not in service till 1944!
Strangely, the 234/2 "Puma" with its turret mounted 50mm gun came first - then it was replaced by the 234/1 with the 20mm cannon!
I guess I had assumed the Puma was the best version so would be the last to be developed, and that the 20mm gun similar to the SdKfz 222 would have been earlier - hence I thought it fitted in with my early war project...
But with the advent of the Tiger 1 in its fancy camo paint job, the opportunity came up to get this later war vehicle completed!
A few of the many spare German decals I have were added to bring it to life.
And that's tonight's post
Thanks for your visit and for any comments you are kind enough to leave

More cracking additions to your collection Keith, very nicely done, nice looking models and the tank riders look great some great poses.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie - yes, I really like both sets of tank riders - and I have more on the way from the Old Country, too!
DeleteThe tank riders certainly give the tanks models some character.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, I like them too!
DeleteGreat looking vehicles Keith, especially the SU100!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray
DeleteReally well done vehicles Keith. I have some to paint so I'll be looking at yours for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThat's praise indeed, OB. I will keep a look out for them!
DeleteYou have some of the most densely populated armor units! All of those tankriders certainly lend atmosphere. The armored car is certainly correctly painted.
ReplyDeleteKeith, if you paint up many more of these, you are going to need a bigger table. I may have to take a turn away from my Early War projects and use that dark yellow base that pops in the German armor.
Thanks Joe. I have been enjoying building and painting the vehicles but I may have to consider something else soon....I probably have more Russians than I can use in a game!
DeleteLovely looking vehicles!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal 👍
DeleteGreat looking tanks
ReplyDeleteCheers Scotty
DeleteYou’ve got more Russian tanks than the current Russian army, lol.
ReplyDeleteThat could well be the case, JBM!
Delete!
DeleteOops....!
DeleteExcellent work their Keith:)! You certainly will have more amrour on display for your May Day parade than the current Russian army, who are apparently not having any this year;)! I too have nearly come a cropper on the armoured car front, wanting to paint some in Panzer Grey, but luckily I checked that some came out in late '43, so highly unlikely to be painted thus.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve...I had seen that re the Victory Day parade. My original motivation fir getting the vehicle was price ...it was a very good deal! Once acquired, I realized it didn't work in the Blitzkrieg era. It was only after I got the Tiger that I thought I could add the 234 to my later war "collection "!
DeleteWonderful additions, Keith. You are the tank painting king.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard! I wouldn't go that far, but I do quite enjoy painting the vehicles, particularly the weathering.
DeleteLoving the new T34. You're getting good at this Keith.
ReplyDeleteThat 234/1 is likewise pretty looking. You've certainly got that camo down between this thing and the Tiger.
234/1 I think made more sense due to 20cm and it's ammo being cheaper to produce and the 5cm Puma's gun being hard to come by by late 1944.
Cheers Dai, I think the brief research I did latterly also said the Puma fully enclosed turret was harder and more expensive to produce.
DeleteYour Armor works are churning out armor at a furious pace. Great results too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, they are quick and easy to do!
DeleteLovely work Keith. These German armoured cars have always been among my favourites as the sloping design makes them look sleek and nimble. The Puma was top of the list and I too would have pegged the 234/1 as an earlier version.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence....yes I agree, even the old Airfix 234/4 was quite cool back in the day!
DeleteChronological logic alone would make you think 234/1 would be the first in the sequence.....and the Germans are usually so methodical about such things!
Your tank factory has certainly met its quota for the year Keith. Orders of Lenin all round I think!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Germans were embarrassed about building the 234 with a 20mm so late in the war and so labelled it 234/1 to make the historians think it was built in 1941 😂
Haha...that sounds like a good explanation Ben!
DeleteOh joy more Russian tanks 😂
ReplyDeleteDo I detect a hint of sarcasm here, Matt??! 😀
DeleteThey are of course lovely but nothing worse for German players than seeing a swarm of T34’s coming over the hill 🙂
DeleteAh hah - now, that makes sense, Matt - you are going to hate my Victory Day Parade post, then!
DeleteBy golly, you're cranking out enough Russians to replace losses in Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not quite that many Ed - but I think my May 9 Victory Parade will feature more armour than Putin has in Red Square!
DeleteGreat looking armour, I really like those big German armoured cars!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks a lot Iain....might "need" to get a Puma next!
