Quick and Dirty "Cheat" Post

This is really just for Ray at "Don't Throw a 1" blog - a few more size comparison shots of the Battle Honours 3D printed Napoleonic vivandieres!

No new painting and very little effort involved for me - hopefully the images are of use to Ray, and maybe a couple of others?!

I realised after saying I would post them with Perry figures - I don't have any Perry French Napoleonic infantry! So, the first image is with some venerable Wargames Foundry figures

This time, the infantry are by Dixon

These are Front Rank

These Brits are actually Perry plastic figures

And the last image has them next to Old Glory Secomd Edition British infantry

And that's it - as I said - short and sweet!

  1. Foundry and Dixon (surprisingly for me) seem the closest if one were to thicken the other bases by 1mm and then use foot to eye as a guide. Even so, the slimness and proportionality of the 3D prints shows how chunky (not Perry) much of our stuff is.

    1. Thanks Norm and yes, that was what struck me too - alongside the 3D prints, the 90's style figures look almost like caricatures!

  2. I use those ladies with my North Star Potemkin figures and they fit in fine by the way.

    1. Thanks Alan - I am glad you have found a use for them as they are great figures!

  3. They go well in my opinion with the Perry and OG ones size wise but with thicker bases would work well enough with the others, short but interesting post.

    1. Thanks Donnie, interestingly, this post seems to have suffered no delay at all between me posting it, and it appearing on people's blog rolls - I am wondering if it's the "size" of the post content that dictates the delay? My mate Mark had a 36 hour delay on his recent post about his FPW Free Kriegspiel game - but it had loads of images PLUS a long a detailed text about the battle....

  6. Thin or thick basing is a good way to fi.x height experience.

  7. I think they all work well, I dont know about blogger, my previous post with lots of photos seemed to go live pretty fast, my recent one with much less photos not so much?

    1. Thanks Iain. Ah well, it was only a theory based on a very limited sample size! Maybe it's how busy the system/internet is at the time....although it wouldn't be busy for 36 hours in a row....

  8. If based the same, they all seem to work together. The Front Rank Napoleonics really are chunky aren’t they?

  9. I think they scale up really well and they were quite reasonably priced to. Very much on my wish list now.

  10. They size up well with the Perry plastics. Of course, it's hard to compare to the beefy Front Rank figures - fine as they are themselves. :)

    1. Thank you Dean....yep the FR boys are in a class of their own!

  11. Interesting Keith I find the slimness of figures is the main trouble height you can often get away with.

    1. Thanks Matt....yes. that's the bigger issue for sure....everything about the 3D prints is just more accurate and makes the metal figures look a bit odd!

  12. There aren't any real size disparities between these ladies and the figure ranges you show us here so I think they'll mix in very well wherever they are placed really.

  13. I'm sure once on the table and in a game, you simply forget about the slight differences between the size and style of the figures. Afterall we have that 'God's Eye View' looking down on their heads, rarely actually looking at them face on, unless when taking photos.

  14. They look like a good fit, especially against the Perry British. I must admit have always liked the beefiness of Front Rank but know that are not to everyone's taste.

    1. Thanks Lawrence! FR used to be the only locally produced figures in NZ (thanks to Mark and his Marua Road shop) so I guess a lot of Kiwis have some in their collections...certainly most of my early stuff is predominantly Front Rank and I have always liked the style of them!

  15. They mix in fine for me, people come in different shapes and sizes, so perfect as civilians

    1. Thanks Scotty and yes re people all being different shapes and sizes....and women on average will be shorter and slimmer than a man.
