After what seems a VERY long time, I finally finished my second twelve figure unit of Ebor Swedish cavalry.
The entire unit
This is how the latest squadron is based in the v shaped formation
And this is how the two squadrons go together when in a line - I think it works quite well
Next up is a rather unique unit - the Bohusland dragoon Regiment - sporting a green coat faced in yellow
I have already completed the first three figures and will get to work shortly on another three, so hopefully the first squadron should be ready for a show and tell in a few days!
Yet another very nice regiment. This is certainly a very colorful period and your regiments are outstanding.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark- anything with tricorn hats is going to look good in my opinion!
DeleteAnother worthy addition to the forces of Charles XII!
ReplyDeleteThanks John - hope to see your own Swedes making similar progress!
DeleteBeautiful work sir!
ReplyDeleteBest regards
Thank you indeed Michal!
DeleteGreat job, attention down to the "v" in the basing. Looking forward to thee l
ReplyDeleteI am picking you have more to add.....?
DeleteYou continue making steady and handsome progress on this project. I really like the cavalry based in threes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon....yes, have made some progress this weekend thank goodness!
DeleteVery attractive figures. The basing style certainly adds something, with good use made of 'edge-to-edge' basing as well as the 'V'. We are having a bit of a heat wave, too hot to paint as the paint dries on the brush too easily, so your sensing of a slower painting speed is still faster than what is happening here :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, I try to get the basing right, as I am a great believer in the concept that great basing enhances figures, whereas poor basing detracts from them. Quite a few English readers have mentioned warm weather is inhibiting painting...not a common problem I would not think!
DeleteA rather dashing looking cavalry regiment
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Neil!
DeleteNice work there Kieth on your Swedish Cavalry. I use to leave the Cavalry to absolutely last when painting up an Army- just preference. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev...it seems to be a common approach!
DeleteI've only seen the Swedish cavalry wedge formation reflected in 6mm figures--until now. A nice touch to show this in 25mm (both for accuracy and the distinct look of the cavalry involved): very cool looking unit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed....it is only just possible on the 60mm X 60mm bases used.....I did consider increasing the depth but decided against it
DeleteAnother great looking unit Keith…
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing the Bohusland Dragoons look like they will be a nice colourful addition…
All the best. Aly
Cherrs Aly. Thanks to so crappy weather over the weekend, six of them are completed and just waiting to be based.
DeleteGreat looking cavalry, Keith. Love the attention you showed to the hair/wigs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean...I have made about eighty percent of them some shade of blonde...being Scandanavian and all!
DeleteLovely work Keith, and you'll be through these before you know it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lawrence. I am trialling a new system ....painting the horse (s) first, then adding the rider and painting him in situ....I don't know if it helped, the bloody horses still seemed to take a long time to paint !
DeleteVery nice job! You continue to accomplish new units at a good pace. Despite how it might feel…..đŸ˜€
ReplyDeleteThank you Stew.....I guess you ate right, thanks for pointing it out!
DeleteLovely looking miniatures, Keith! Great to see your project is developing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dmitry...about eighty per cent completed I would guess!
DeleteSplendid looking cavalry unit! Nice colour combination!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks again Iain...I like the red and blue too.
