After a burst of activity over the weekend, the third of five Ebor cavalry units now joins the army of King Charles XII. I have already mentioned all the information I have about this regiment, so here are the images. Next up, I am doing the three gun crews, which should not take too long as it does not involve horses in any way, shape or form!
The entire unit of Bohusland Dragoons
Flashback to stage three of the painting process - horses complete and riders half done
The second squadron in all their glory
Obligatory overhead shot to show the V shape formation
A range of close ups of the latest two stands ....
Thats it for tonight - stay safe everyone and I hope you are enjoying great gaming wherever you are.
Excellent cavalry unit!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dmitry!
DeleteLooking good Keith…
ReplyDeleteThe green and yellow works really well…
All the best. Aly
Thank Aly, yes a pleasant change from all that blue!
DeleteWonderful effect with the colors 'chosen ' for the uniforms. A splendid little force for the GNW!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. I really must paint a couple of units wearing the "standard" uniform...so far, all my cavalry are in non standard colours!
DeleteBeautiful cavalry unit sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal
DeleteNice work Keith another cavalry unit down they will look very impressive when then finally get to charge across the table !
ReplyDeleteCheers Norm...yes, I wonder how far off that day is? My intended opponent keeps getting distracted by other projects!
DeleteSplendid painting and basing there Kieth- your really going well with the Cavalry. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev...progress seems to come in fits and starts, rather than steady as with the infantry, but at least I am over half way now.
DeleteExcellent brushwork Keith!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray, I have been wondering where you have been, checked your blog every couple of days but nothing new for a while, have you been on your summer hols?
DeleteYour latest is another fine looking cavalry regiment!
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly sir!
DeleteSplendid looking cavalry unit!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Cheers Iain...I still could not face painting twenty four horses in one go!
DeleteGreat work Keith and love the attacking 'V' shape, that is perfect for cavalry. Keep up the good work:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I shall keep plugging away at them
DeleteSaddle furniture really pops! Gotta love the yellow and green: the colors of my favorite US football team (the Green Bay Packers). I always add one unit in these colors, if it existed, in any of my collections.
ReplyDeleteHaha, great way to reference your sports team Ed. Yes, it's a nice colour combination, reminiscent of Napoleonic French Dragoons or Chasseurs a Cheval.
DeleteGreat to see the whole regiment together. Superb work
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil they do look quite good don't they?
DeleteVery sharp Keith, and great to see another regiment completed.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence...remarkably, I am considering getting a few more cavalry, although my mare Nick accused me of being a megalomaniac for even considering it!
DeleteLooking good! Enjoy your break from painting horses. 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew - yeah, those gunners are like a walk i the park - grey uniforms face light blue - I just undercoat the entire figure in dark grey then dry brush a couple of lighter grey highlights over them, then do the light blue, hat, sword scabbard and shoes black, a couple of straps and the face and hands and they are done - I did eight in a couple of days!
DeleteGreat looking new cavalry unit, Keith. They look very intimidating with their outstretched swords.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean - I cant take too much credit for the pose - although they do come with a separate sword arm so I guess I am partly responsible - a real pain getting the to set in place, even with Superglue!
