3eme Regiment des Lanciers de la Ligne Completed!

Hmm, strange, looks like I have defaulted to the new
w version of Blogger, so hopefully I have no problems or frustrations loading this post.....already seem to have had one, I have to use the ENTER key to move to the next line, if I just keep typing, the end of the line disappears off the right hand edge of the screen - thats not too bad thoigh - if thats all it is, I can ahndle that small inconvenience! Tonight I have finished off the basing on the last two stands of the hard plastic Warlord French Napoleonic Lancers. I think they have come out well and would happily buy another packet, although with three regiments in m y collection now, I think Hussars or Chasseurs a Cheval would be a more appropriate choice! The track and trace on my Border Reivers shows they have reached New Zealand, so now we only have the vaguries of NZ Customs and NZ Post to contend with - hopefully they will arrive in time for the weekend. I also bit the bullet and ordered a bunch of civilains from Fenryll, which have been dispatched from France today - good times! OK - I THINK I have attached images....but I cant see them. Tried preview and still nothing... so I am going to publish and see what happens - I wish people would just leave stuff that works alone! I hope you are safe and well, wherever in the world you are reading this. Here are the images:

    1. It's not just me then, posting photo's in the new version is rather troublesome. Cavalry look lovely....

    2. Thanks Stu - hopefully I will be able to get my head around it as doubtless, there soon wont be a Legacy option....

  2. Lovely cavalry Keith.

I too hate the new Blogger!!! Leave feedback if you can and I still use the option of reverting to Legacy Blogger. I'm dreading the day when I can't do this and i imagine a lot of people will give up using Blogger as a result:(

    1. Thanks Steve - I realised I could revert to legacy AFTER I had created the post...I am sure you are right, soon, there wont be an option...I will try to persevere though, as I really do enjoy my blog!

  3. Your photos published within the text. To remedy this, insert photos on a new line. Also, you can center the photo rather than have it right aligned. I find posting photos much easier with more control using the new interface. Lovely cavalry.

    1. Thanks Jonathan - I know what I did - I had misspelled enw and went to reposition the n at the start of the word, while I was in the process of uploading the photos...I even saw a whole load of gobbledigook (mixed text, colons, forward and back slashes etc) in that position but didn't realis why it was there (it was obviously the HTML for the images ..is that the right terminology..?) Anyway, as I say, I know how I did it - I just didn't know I was going to do it beforehand! As to the placement and size of the images, I did see that option and I thought I had selected medium size and centred placement....hopefully I can get used to it with time!

  4. Beautiful Lancers, Keith. I've yet to yse the new version of Blogger, but I don't know why they changed it. Same as Facebook.

    1. Thanks Dean...totally agree, although given we are all able to benefit from it at no cost, I guess we can't really complain too much!

  5. The finished unit looks splendid Keith...
I am still using legacy... I suppose I should give the ‘new’ a try...

    All the best. Aly

    1. Cheers Aly. My trial was unintentional and I think I have now reverted to the legacy platform....but doubtless one day, that won't be an option

  6. Nice work Keith and yes, COVID-19 really has wreaked havoc on the postal service. The safe arrival of a package always seems like the cause for minor celebration.

    1. Cheers Lawrence ….well, the Royal Mail tracking says it cleared AKL airport at 0320 or something today - but the NZPost site says it is an untracked service....BUT, I might get a delivery scan! Its just like my working life...God help me! Hopefully it should arrive before the weekend

  7. My congrats on getting this beautiful cavalry unit done, Keith. Very decent result!
I also have trouble with seeing image previews while creating a blog post. It's a little consolation that I'm not alone facing such an issue, though it's a still pity.

    1. Thank you Dmitry....technology is not my greatest strength - if it doesn't work the way I expect it too, I am in trouble!

  8. Great unit Keith, I look forward to see what you tackle next. I've gone with the new version of Blogger. I'm finding it to be much less intuitive than the original version! Totally agreed if it's not broken, leave it! Cheers Greg - I'm off to check out the Fenryll figures you mentioned.

    1. Thanks Greg. Jonathan wrote a piece a couple of weeks ago about how to do something or other on the new blogger, and it went right over my head! Like many things, if you already have a basic understanding of the technology, it's probably easy to make the transition. Hope you like the Fenryll figures. If you order any, make sure the shopping cart does not add 20%tax...I queried it because I am not in the EU and Thierry the guy there refunded it...but if I had not asked, the order would have cost me an extra $20!

  9. Lovely lancers Keith...just need to get them on the table now! I am growing used to the new Blogger interface and the new presentation controls are great, One of the big advantages with mobile/cloud computing is that it is very easy to incorporate changes, while the negative is that those changes are not always documented, so we creatures of habit struggle with the change...in my highly regulated industry this is a serious issue.

The real issue with our deliveries is the reduced aviation operations into NZ - less direct flights results in offloads at intermediate ports. I find that the postal problem at the NZ end us the limitation of only 3 NZ post deliveries a week.

    1. Well I cant really complain Mark - the order was despatched approx. 9 Sept and it was in my garage when In arrived home this evening - a week or so to get here from the north of England - its only been in NZ a couple of days and I have it - and no GST!
