The Border Reivers Arrive!
OK, here we go with the new Blogger... some like it, many hate it, I hope to get used to it....!
I am not going to write too much in case I cock this post all up... just to say, about a week after placing
the order with Hokahey Miniatures, the figures have arrived at my house - pretty much exactly the same
service as I would expect in normal times - so well done Royal Mail, whichever airlines and airports were
involved, plus New Zealand Customs and not forgetting New Zealand Post (even though they are the mortal
enemy of my employer!)
I am sure I will get one or two of these guys painted over the weekend, so watch out for constant posting, at least
it should mean I become competent with the new way of doing things - I hope!
Some of the figures are for my gaming mate Julian and the mdf Bastle House is for Rick - he has already purchased some
figures.
Hopefully it isnt too long till we can get together for face to face gaming and on that topic, I had my
leave for our planned week long gaming extravaganza in late October signed off by my lovely boss today
(she is lovely by the way, its not just a turn of phrase!)
Here are the figures - fingers crossed I dont screw up loading them this time...

What’s not to like about a big box of toys...
ReplyDeleteThey are nice chunky figures so they should work well for skirmish games... I look forward to seeing them painted...
All the best. Aly
Indeed! Your post looks fine. New Blogger works for me
DeleteThanks Aly, they are certainly good solid chaps!
DeleteJonathan, your comment is a"reply" to Aly I think, so have to reply to you here too. I notice my new post has not come up on any of the usual blogs...is that the issue around sizing the image so it's square that you mentioned in an earlier post? I am also unsure how to add comments under each image like I used to do...also, I can't figure out how to write in paragraphs...! Lots to learn still...
It's nice when new toys arrive and look forward to seeing them painted etc. As for the new Blogger, why try and fix something that wasn't broken?
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on both counts Steve...hardly a week goes by at work without some change to one of the programs we use. The one I have found most annoying recently is a change on exel, so every time you open a spreadsheet it opens in safe mode and you have to enable editing, which can take twenty or thirty seconds if it has a lot of data...so frustrating!
DeleteNice acquisition and a shipping time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dmitry.... Yes they arrived very promptly. I am looking forward to a weekend of painting!
DeleteVery nice, The individuals look to have loads of character. The Timeline buildings are also well produced (I have put their animal pen together). I ordered from Hoka Hey during the lockdown earlier in the year. They kept trading and were prompt, impressive.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm...yes the figures are beautiful and Alan at Hokahey is great to deal with..highly recommended!
DeleteGreat stuff Keith. I am still waiting for my box of goodies to be shipped...so I guess can expect delivery next month. Next time we meet remind me to show you a few tricks with the new Blogger interface.
ReplyDeleteThanks on both counts Mark...will definitely bear your offer in mind...hopefully it won't be too long now
DeleteA nice acquisition, and well done with navigating your way through this blog post Keith. It looks as though you are getting the hang of it.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence... I don't think the new version is as intuitive as the original....I tried using the Preview function, for example...but nothing seemed to happen. Anyway, as per above, Mark will attempt to instil some knowledge into me next time we meet!
DeleteYeah, post is moving quite well at the moment. Those look like they'll be fun to paint.
ReplyDeleteYes they are Nate - I have done a couple today - will probably do a progress post tomorrow evening. Post from UK was fine - I would not have expected it any quicker then 7-10 days in normal times.
DeleteNice looking figures, Keith. I hadn't heard of Hokahey before...interesting name.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean. They started life as Graven Images but the guy who had them sculpted sold them on to Alan. As to the company name, I agree...to me, its something to do with North American Indians...or should I say First Nation nowadays...
DeleteNice prompt delivery and lovely looking figures, I am always tempted by the period, wild west with rain!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Yes it was a pleasant surprise that it was not delayed at our border for a week Iain! Your description of the period is exactly what we think too...the other possibility still in the back of my mind is Three Musketeers.....
