When I arrived home this evening, there was a compact little package sitting at my painting desk - the Ebor GNW Swedish infantry have arrived in theatre!
Six packs of 18 infantry - PLUS 12 pike men and three mounted commanders - that should keep me busy for a month or two - happy days!
Something to keep me entertained over the coming weekend!
That is definitely the start of a developing big project, I guess with postage bulk buy makes sense 👍
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty good deal from Nick at Ebor .....6 x 18 man units for £75 - something like 94p per figure...and they are bloody nice figures too..can't really go wrong!
Deleteooooo shiny!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are Ray!
DeleteHi Kieth- It is good that the Mail is getting through- happy painting.
ReplyDeleteCheers Kev...posted on 18 Feb I think so not too bad from the UK under current circumstances!
ReplyDeleteAh, it's always nice when an order arrives on the door mat:). 94p for a metal figure is very good value thses days, compared to some of the silly prices that are charged. Looking forward to seeing them painted etc.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Steve, I may even have under stated the deal...108 figures for £75....the 94p each possibly includes the postage to get them here. Lots to keep me occupied for the next wee while.
DeleteAlways a pleasant surprise to get a welcomed gift on the doorstep. Enjoy painting them.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is Mark!
DeleteI love receiving packages of lead in the mail! I got one yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI think they probably arrive on your doorstep with more frequency than on mine Jon but I am sure the feeling is the same. Hope you enjoy yours too!
DeleteMy wife might agree with you...
DeleteLol...I notice Ebor kindly declared the value as £39....not only beneficial when seen by revenue men at our border, but when possibly noticed by my wife as she accepts delivery and places in my inwards goods area....😊
DeleteVery nice, that was fast. Their website has some beautifully painted examples.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm...yes quick service and they are very nice figures too.
DeleteLucky you
ReplyDeleteCheers Neil...looking forward to getting stuck into some if them this weekend!
DeleteThey look nice. I had a package from the Perrys arrive yesterday myself. Just a few odds and ends which took just over two weeks to get here, although I am still awaiting a previous order from December which must be taking a more circuitous route.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, yes, the Ebor figures are very nice ... I already gave a few in my WSS collection...plus my shall contribution to Marks Crimean project are all Ebor Brits. International shipping us a bit of a lottery at the moment but something sent in Dec should be here by now...I would be getting the sender to lodge a query with the carrier, if it's not too late...or not already done!
DeleteNice looking figures. Reading those comments about delivery times and customs duties makes me realise how lucky we are here having such a great range of suppliers on our doorstep.
DeleteYes indeed....one upon a time, we had Mark from 1866 and All That running a business here in Auckland that produced a number of 15 and 25/8mm ranges, incuding Front Rank under license...it was great to be able to buy as many (or more particularly as few) as you wanted over the counter and only have to pay the actual figure cost. Having to pay £25-30 postage on top of the order can make quite a dent in the number of troops purchased....
DeleteNice purchase! We always get a little thrill when the miniatures arrive. 😀
ReplyDeleteThen dread as it takes sooo long to paint.
Thanks Stew...hopefully this arrival will motivate and galvanise me into some concerted effort at the painting desk!
DeleteVery nice delivery, Keith! Are you going to use these along with the Warlord Games plastics - or switching altogether to these metals? Either way, have a great time with them.
ReplyDeleteHi Dean, they will be working in tandem with the plastic cavalry. I may get more of the Warlord cav....or might top up the mounted arm with a few Ebor figures. Apparently around one third of the Swedish army consisted of horse soldiers, so I will need to take that into account when planning future buying sprees!
DeleteAh, got it. Sounds like a mix.
DeleteNice looking figures, striding to the front and leaving your other half painted figures in the shadows!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. Yes the photo does reveal the chaotic nature of my painting desk...half the figures you can see are actually fully painted, I just have not assigned them permanent sleeping quarters yet!
DeleteWonderful stuff.... You can't beat a fresh box of shiny metal. Looks like they will be jumping the queue then :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Cheers Stu...I am trying to be good. I have under coated and started painting six more standing cavalry, as well as assembling the remaining galloping horses and three of the six riders. I HAVE under coated the first six infantrymen too.....you got to scratch the itch!
DeleteYes! It is great to receive such packages:)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice painting time!
Thanks Dmitry - a great arrival indeed!
