Well that's three down and three to go with my current GNW project (assuming no scope creep!). I painted the second of my marching units as the Kalmar Regiment, again based mainly on the fact that I had a copy of their flag.
A bit more research has been done on the web and I have this info on the Kalmar Regiment:
Kalmar regemente – standard uniform (Blue coat lined with yellow, blue stockings)
Battle Honours:
Clissow 1702
Helsingborg 1710
As with most of the Swedish infantry units, they wore the standard dress of blue coat faced yellow, over an elk skin waistcoat and breeches, the only thing different about them being their regimental colours. I painted them with blue stockings based on some info I found on some website.
For the grenadier caps, I am using a fair bit of artistic license - or just making them up! As long as each unit is slightly different, I am happy.
Next off the blocks will be the Dalregiment, for which I have already completed the command base with these colours
Beautiful looking miniatures sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal
DeleteAnother superb looking regiment
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil, they are coming along nicely
DeleteAnother dandy regiment, Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, they do look rather fine, don't they!
DeleteGreat brushwork. Having the flag is always a good reason to choose a unit!
ReplyDeleteThank you...yes, the flags are a good decision maker on what units to paint!
DeleteLooking good my man! Beware the scale creep. 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew...I am already considering expanding the infantry to twelve battalions.....which would mean I should also have eighteen squadrons of cavalry!
DeleteAnother great looking unit of Swedish infantry; nice details on the mitre caps too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean. I would like to be a bit more accurate with the mitre caps, but details have been hard to source....all I can see is that different regiments seem to have had individual designs.
DeleteMore fine looking chaps Keith...
ReplyDeleteIt is also a lovely looking flag...
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly...plenty more (flags) where that came from...just have to buy more troops to carry them!
DeleteThose flags really set the unit the unit off - splendid.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, apart from a couple of regiments who had red, orange or white facings, the flags are the only thing that differentiates one unit from another...I was lucky to find these ones as they are quite nice quality even just run off on a colour printer
DeleteAnother lovely unit Keith and the flags once again really make the whole regiment look great:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve....maybe Bill Clinton once said "Its the flags..." !
DeleteAnother fine regiment with some more lovely flags Keith.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence...have visited you a couple of times but it's been a while since you posted any Napoleonic cavalry.....
DeleteThose look great Keith the standard really brings the unit together.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu. Eighty per cent through the fourth regiment now, courtesy of four days off work for Easter, but I am having a break now...should finish them off tomorrow.
DeleteAnother lovely unit force coming together quite quickly 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt...one more then there will be a pause...some of the original Ebor figures were damaged when I unpacked them so Nick Wragg has sent replacements but of course they are taking a long time to get here with the current state of international shipping...oh well, maybe I can go back to the Border Reivers for a while....
DeleteAnother splendid looking unit and great flags!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain!
DeleteExcellent brushwork Keith, love those flags.
ReplyDeleteLol people's comments seem to lack a lot of originality Ray....everyone loves the flags!
DeleteYou are sure ripping through these Keith...eighteen cavalry squadrons sounds a nice round number!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. Just checked that out with Nick actually...each sqn equals two bases of six ..so eighteen would equate one hundred and eight cavalry figures....!
DeleteMore beautiful miniatures to your GNW protect! The regiment looks fantastic!
