This is my sixth and final Swedish GNW Regiment. A second tranche of six more Swedish regiments is hopefully en route from Nick at Ebor in the UK. In the meantime, I have plenty of other things to keep me busy at the painting desk - expect an appearance from some Russian Civil War types on the not too distant future.
The last regiment to be completed in this phase of the project is the Estlandska Regiment, chosen for their orange facing colour rather than anything particularly interesting about their flag, which is quite plain in comparison to some of the previous Swedish units.
The rather uninspiring standard
The grenadier cap and drummers reversed colours uniform are both speculative.
Th standard is effective, even though simple. The troops are great! The unit will look great on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think they work well.
DeleteThe flag may be plainer than others so far, but it and the regiment, still look great to me:)
ReplyDeleteCheers Steve, I do like the fact every flag is completely different from the other
DeleteA splendid 6 unit force, some Neil Thomas gaming could be satisfied by that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm. The Beneath Lilliy Banners rules and scenarios often utilise pretty small forces, so six infantry units, a few cavalry and one or two guns would be a perfectly adequate force.
DeleteVery nice. The orange gives a nice change from the standard buff colours on the Swedes
ReplyDeleteThank you Neil. I do like a range of facing colours but need to make sure I still have the majority with buff/yellow facings!
DeleteThe orange look great, it's the unsung hero of everyone's collection of paints! Think this is my favourite of your units, even if the flag is a little understated.
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray, the orange certainly does make this unit "pop"!
DeleteA lovely looking unit and agreed on the Orange, loving the basing style as well.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu...I am having to be careful not to make the bases TOO "busy"
DeleteLast for the moment? The orange is a nice switch from the yellow although the yellow and blue combo is my favorite. Fab work, Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon... A small parade is in the offing!
DeleteThe job! You’re really cranking these out! 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Stew!
DeleteMore great work again Keith. I agree, that standard is a little uninspiring though. You can almost imagine them saying "Hey, Sven, can you see what you can come up with?", followed a couple of days later with "Is that it?". At least it won't distract from the lovely paintwork.
ReplyDeleteLol...according to Googles top five Estonian boys names, it was more likely to be Aleksandr or Alasi than Sven!
DeleteCracking job, beautiful colors rross!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil. The orange is nice and bright isn't it?
DeleteAnother lovely looking unit, nice facings and a perfectly good flag!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain and totally agree, the flag is fine, we can't all have flash designer standards!
DeleteGreat looking unit Keith 👍
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt
DeleteBeautiful Keith. Time for a parade, hey?!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks James....yes, a parade is the plan.
DeleteAnother lovely looking unit Keith...
ReplyDeleteI don’t mind the standard... it lets the facings pop even more.
All the best. Aly
Cheers Aly....yes indeed, sometimes, less is more!
