A Border Reivers Update

Tonight I have finished off another quartet of the very nice Assault Group (TAG) English Border Militia figures. Not a lot more to say about them really, they are the same four basic poses as the previous examples, but heads are swapped around and the trousers varied to add a bit of interest.

I discovered a "zoom" function on my phone/camera - so hope these are not TOO close up...if they are, it may tend to emphasize all my painting errors!

Happy with this extra batch of English troops - three more to go and that will be all the Garrison Men painted - still half a dozen Reivers to be added to the project after that - but next up will be a few more of the 3D printed Soviet females!

  1. The zoomed photos are crisp and I see no painting mishaps. All look great!

  4. Nice one. I always scrutinise my figures under a magnifying glass while painting them, but only discover the errors I’ve made when I photograph them. How the hell does that work?

    1. I know what you mean - I have even been known to take images of painted figures, spot something I dont like, get the paint out, fix it up and then take a new picture!

I wish I could find the zoom function in my eyes…๐Ÿ˜

    All the best. Aly

    1. Hahaha yes, I know exactly what you mean Aly - in fact, the only time my own figures are clear to me is when I am wearing my "special painting glasses"(cheap $10 pair from a chemist that are +4 or whatever the greatest available magnification is)
With my "proper" $300 reading glasses, they are still not that clear and with my unaided eyesight, they are best viewed from a couple of feet away - any closer, they become a blur!

  6. Great looking Reivers, Keith. I like the "Henry VIII" looking figure.

    1. Thank you Dean. TAG actually make a very nice looking figure of 'Enary the Eipf but I have no real use for him up in the border lands, although I did repurpose both his daughters, Mary as a generic lady of the house and Elizabeth as Mary Queen of Scots!

  7. More lovely work Keith, and they more than withstand the critical eye of the zoom lens.

  8. The camera can be unforgiving--if they photograph well, then they are very well done. These are excellent. And I believe that they have the "right trousers" :)

    1. Thank you for your kind words Ed! I am halfway through four Soviet females and then I might finish off the last three of these figures.

  9. Great stuff Keith. Hopefully we can get out of this cocoon at some point and you can get of these on the gaming table.
