Bloody Big Bolshevik Parade!

So here, as promised, is a parade of almost all my RCW Bolshevik collection - I left out most of the Matchbox Yesteryear vehicles and the 20+ individual "character" figures that we rarely have a use for - like the Tsar and his family, etc!

Apologies if some of the images are not the best.

The cavalry 3 x 10 of Old Glory WWI Russians

Mounted commander from Siberia Miniatures

Two regiments are sword armed.....

..... and one comprises lancers!

Naval Brigade

Females Sailors by Hinterland (no longer in production  😒 )

Coppletone HMG crew

Copplestone sailors

Brigade Games sailors

The "khaki" infantry units

These are mainly Copplestone and Brigade Games RCW Bolshevik figures

This unit of females is from Siberia Miniatures (some are actually Poles from the Soviet/Polish War but have been repurposed!)

Two snipers in Adrian helmets (donated by Rick, I think they may be Warlord??)

More images of the Siberia Miniatures range (a couple are from Hinterland, actually!)

These are the Latvian Rifle Division, a bit of an elite unit in the Bolshevik army, who wore Adrian helmets - the figures are actually 1940 French Dragons Portes by Crusader Miniatures (still need a commend element though...)

More Copplestone figures

Converted female troops, with head swaps from a variety of sources

I really like this Copplestone officer......

....... and this Bolshevik Heroines, inspiring the Red Army troops to acts of proletarian valour!

A mix of HMG crews

Siberia Miniatures females (Poles again)

Old Glory WWI

Siberia Miniatures

And here is a whole unit of Siberia Miniatures infantry, with a Copplestone commander

So Called "Elite" infantry wearing the distinctive Russian headgear - figures by both Copplestone and Brigade Games

These ones are all Brigade - and very nice they look, too!

A mixture of both brands, hopefully showing how well they work together

Copplestone field gun (top) and Siberia Miniatures (below) I just need to add a Brigade Games version and I will have the full set!

A Warbases MDF and stiff card Tchanka model

Old Glory resin Whippet tank

Old Glory resin Lanchester armoured car

And finally, the diminutive FT17 - again a resin kit from OG, with Copplestone infantry to give an idea of size.

Thats the parade completed for this month - lets see what army gets an outing in November, and I may parade that one next! In the meantime, in addition to painting and basing a mixture of figures, I have started reading this mighty tome, that John very kindly presented me with back in August, around the time of my sixtieth birthday

Thanks for dropping by and double thanks for leaving a comment - they are all greatly appreciated!

  1. Blimey, that is one hell of a force you have on parade there Keith! I dread to think how big a table you would need to be able to field them all in one go, but it would make for one great spectacle though:).

    1. Thanks Steve - yes, I have got a bit carried away with this collection - originally intended to be a small force to be used in conjunction with other players collections - it kind of got away on me - although, in my defence, its probably been built up over four or five years!

    1. Thanks Scotty, with your own RCW and Back of Beyond collections growing apace, I expected this parade would be of interest to you!

    2. Definitely, might pick up some of the Old Glory cavalry for the Whites

    3. They are a bit smaller than Copplestone, being true 25mm Scotty, but as long as you are ok with that, they are good figures at a reasonable cost

  3. Very impressive Keith. That is a substantial collection, and all turned out at your usual beautiful standard.

    1. You are too kind, Lawrence! There are a significant number of them, when you put them all out on a 3 X 3 table, aren't there?

  7. One of the things that I enjoy about this collection is the opportunity for the splashes of colour (aided by the flags) that visually lift the units.

    1. Thanks Norm, I too like the flags, and the occasional bursts of red or blue amongst all that khaki! The variety of troop types and particularly the different headgear also adds some interest to the units.

  8. This quite an impressive parade, Keith! Surprised they are not marching across Red Square. With such a wide selection of manufacturers, do you have a favorite!

    1. Haha, thanks Jon! As to a favourite, I would have to say that it is Copplestone by a nose, but they are all pretty good.

  11. Fantastic. It can't be an insignificant amount of time to arrange the parade....thanks for prepping the eye candy. I most enjoy seeing the funny armored car, tankette, and tchanka. What janky vehicles existed during the interwar period.

    1. Thanks Dave....I am glad you liked the vehicles....I almost didn't bother including them! It probably took an hour to ninety minutes to get everything out, photograph it, and put it back into the relevant storage boxes ....but worth the effort, as far as I am concerned!

  12. Splendid parade! I do like the combo of khaki and flags, tempted by this or the Spanish Civil war ( having recently read Beevors book on it) but not for a while!
