My box of Perry hard plastic Sudanese infantry turned up today, so they will likely start featuring in posts soon - I still have the second batch of Brigade Swashbuckling ladies plus the Copplestone Pulp Turks to finish off first. In actual fact, most of these are already done, but I have run out of 10c coins to base them on! I have ordered a resupply - 100 old 2c coins (the same coins from 20 years ago!) for $8.50 - so, a saving of $1.50 for the same number of bases :) Until they arrive, though, I am somewhat stymied.
In addition to the planned Perry arrival, I had an impromptu purchase from our local eBay equivalent, Trade Me. I may struggle to use these, but they looked so cool and had already been listed at $100 the pair, but passed in, so when they were relisted at $80, I jumped in and did the Buy Now. By good fortune, the guy wanted pick up only and he worked about two minutes' drive from where I work, so I dropped by mid-morning, handed over my $80, and am now the proud owner of these two rather nice mdf sailing ships in 28mm scale
I will take some images of my own later - these are from the auction. I am very pleased with these for the princely sum of £20/USD22 each! There is a bit of work to do on them, including building up a number of ships guns that are included with the kits, and possibly adding some rigging - I am not 100% sure yet if I will do that or not.
Thats all for tonight - hopefully will have a few figures to post in a day or two, once my new individual bases arrive!
I saw the Perry Sudanese at a recent show and they paint up splendidly … though you may need another box :-)
ReplyDeleteLol...one box will do me Norm. A number of our group members are getting a box to contribute to building up a decent sized force
DeleteExcellent win for 28mm ships. The figures to crew them might cost a little bit more π
ReplyDeleteThe good news is, I already have some potential crew figures, Ben, although doubtless, some additional figures will be "necessary"!
DeleteI am already imagining that the young ladies from the local sailing club have been recruited…π
DeleteI can't imagine where such an idea might have sprung from, Aly!π
DeleteAly, you have been paying attention!
DeleteNice ships! I suspect that they could easily make an appearance in your pulp games. I have an order inbound from Perry too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon. I was thinking more about the new Swashbuckling figures for the ships, but I guess Pulp is a possibility too!
DeleteI still have all my Foundry pirates, so there's those.........
DeleteAnd you even have a blue cloth Andre!
DeleteThe Sudanese are a nice kit to put together. Shame you have to wait for bases. I need another order of sand to base figures
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty....with any luck, the bases should arrive today or tomorrow.
DeleteGreat purchases.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard, I am very pleased with them!
DeleteWhat’s not to like about new toys Keith…
ReplyDeleteThe ships look great…
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly, I concur on both counts!
DeleteA nice little haul Keith, and those ships look especially good. $80 seems like a good price as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Lawrence, yes, they are great models and I was very happy with the price, I doubt I could get one for $80NZ retail!
DeleteThose ships look good and a bit of a bargain too. Always nice when a package arrives as I had happen today, but couldn't remember exactly what I'd ordered until I opened it up!
ReplyDeleteAha....those are the best of all Steve...a surprise package!
DeleteGood to receive some new toys to pay with- at any age. My last shipment from England took sixteen days - today I painted up the 15mm Imperial Troops- just great and worth the waiting time. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Kev! Sixteen days isn't too bad, I have waited four or even six weeks in the past couple of years!
DeleteNice stuff Keith I have thought about getting some of the Sudanese to convert into afghans but never got round to it π
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt.....eerrrrmm....don't they already make ACTUAL Afghans....or is that only Wargames Atlantic?
DeleteYea! Agree really hobby interesting stuff!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal - the ships are great!
DeleteHmmm,,,I can see some more landing actions coming up Keith…
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan Mark....after all, you have created all those Mediterranean coastal defence pieces...we need to get them into another game, and these ships provide the perfect scenario tool!
DeleteOoohhh. Awww. I likey the ships. π
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew....me likey tooπ
DeleteGood group of purchases, the ships are impressive already. The Sudanese figures should be a fun project.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, looking forward to getting onto the Sudanese soon.
DeleteI love when the supply column arrives... some great purchases there.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu. I am starting to build a small "pile" which is unusual for me...I need to get on with constructing and painting some of my recent arrivals!
DeleteNice new project acquisitions, Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean....I think so too π
