The 2eme Regiment of Lancers are now completed, including a bit of remedial work I felt was necessary after the previous post - so here are all twelve of them, including the command group and lance armed front rank, that have already appeared here once!
The musician now has a blue coat, as per the uniform detail card in the last post.
And I repainted the front of the trooper's coats too!
Now the new figures, the sabre armed second rank troopers.
The set only comes with a sword resting on the shoulder pose....
But thanks to the ease of plastic conversions...
Most of the figures have a different right arm!
I am now part way through another unit of plastic Napoleonic cavalry, this time some British Hussars - dont ask me which regiment, I cant remember!
Nicely done ….focus is what I need !
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt - I would not worry - jump around between collections and eras - as long as you are painting something and having fun, you are not on a schedule, it's a hobby!
DeleteLovely work on your lancers, funnily enough I got these from my secret santa at Christmas and built them on boxing day! I also made the same mistake on the trumpeter on the last unit of cavalry I did, easily done, these look super smart!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain - I put them on a list of five or six possibles and allowed the buyers to choose what they got - in retrospect, more French lancers wasn't really what I "needed" the most, but they are very cool and usually quite effective under most rule sets - just not sure anyone will let me deploy all four of them together in one game! Hope to see your ones painted up shortly then, if they have been assembled for a month already!
DeleteGreat work once again sir!
ReplyDeleteCheers Michal!
DeleteKeith, nice account for a determined paint job on the good looking unit. Lancers are the classic shock light cavalry in a gamer's back pocket. These are certainly easy to look at. Certainly a change from the SCW figures so recently showcased.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, I do like the fact lancers have a bit of extra punch! The red and white lance pennants also make them stand out on the battlefield.
DeleteGood to see the trumpeter in his proper attire. Gosh, I hate rework but, sometimes, it must be done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon...this particular rework wasn't particularly onerous, so I didn't really mind doing it.
DeleteI wouldn't have known that the bugler required a different frock had you not said, but he still looks very smart in his now blue uniform.
ReplyDeleteThat Green/gold is also a striking combo, sure to stand out on the tabletop.
Thanks a lot Dai. I didn't know about the trumpeters blue coat either, until I went searching on the web for an image to add to my post! I thought the blue looked better than th original oranges, which was the main motivation to make the change!
DeleteLovely. I wouldn't have known about the trumpeters coat. Nor, I suspect, would many others.
ReplyDeleteNice looking unit Keith. I need some lancers too…they are the only type I am missing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark, I remember you had a few in that all cavalry game....one attached to each heavy cavalry division I think I read...they were converted from Dragoon regiments. Warlord are good figures and I am sure with all your spares, you could add lots of variety!
DeleteVery nice Keith and the lance pennons definitely add the extra finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence...nice figures and the pennons are moulded onto the lance, making it all very easy!
DeleteDashing looking regiment
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty, I like em too!
DeleteIt’s wouldn’t be naps gaming without stress about the uniforms. Thank goodness you sorted it. Otherwise doomed to purgatory. 😀
ReplyDeleteHaha very funny Stew...that's why you like ACW I guess, pretty easy to remember blue or Grey....and the Dark Ages, anything goes...a viking looks pretty much the same as a Saxon!
DeleteYes. You make my points for me. 😀😀
DeleteI think the extra effort on the distinctive blue-jacketed musician was well worth it. I very much like the mix of lance and saber in the unit as well. Very smart outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed....my previous lancers were ALL lancers but this time, I went with a little bit of historical accuracy!
DeleteExcellent. I wouldn't have noticed the trumpeter on the table. Nor would I have known. It would still have looked great, and fought equally well.
ReplyDeleteThia is very true Richard - and I am the same - except, I found that reference chart, and after that I would always have KNOWN! Who knows, perhaps that card is just speculative - it may not be correct either!
DeleteI wouldn't have known the trumpeter was wrong if you hadn't said. Still looks grand though.
ReplyDeleteAnother fine unit there Keith:). My painting mojo is still low due to seemingly constant interruptions at home, but it will return...
ReplyDeleteBrilliant work Keith. They look very smart.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray, appreciate the comment!
