Happy Fourth of July - A Small Parade!

As its 4th July here in New Zealand currently, I have laid out all my AWI Patriot forces completed so far, including a very special guest, to mark the occasion with a parade!

Firstly, though, I present for your approbation, the most recently completed unit, Washington personal guard. The standard bearer carries his headquarters flag.

These are Warlord figures, with the exception of the standard bearer and drummer - who are Perry with Warlord head transplants

Hopefully you agree with me, that they work very well together.

And the first appearance of our special guest for the day - lets here it for General George Washington, a metal one-piece casting form the Perry twins!

And a couple of close ups of the command stand so you can get a better view of the Warlord and Perry figures together.

Several close ups of Yankee Doodle George!

On to the parade - regulars to the left, militia to the right.

Another Warlord/Perry comparison shot - above and below, Perry to the left, Warlord to the right

So, a happy Independence Day to all my American readers, I hope you enjoyed your special day! Another Perry unit is assembled and under coated on the painting desk, with work scheduled to commence over the coming weekend, so check back soon for the next exciting addition to the collection!

    1. You are most welcome Joe, and with 12 public holidays per year (a new one just added a couple of years back) it would be churlish of us to begrudge you yours!

  4. Perfect day for a parade! The sun is only just rising on the 4th here. It will be a beautiful day to celebrate with BBQ, a baseball game, and fireworks.

  6. A splendid parade, Keith! His Excellency General Washington looks outstanding as do your Continental regiments. I really love that figure!

Unfortunately we have yard work on tap for today, but will have a BBQ later this afternoon.

  9. Very nice Keith. I celebrated 4th July with a presidential-style debate with the wife over a boys' long lunch I have planned this weekend, although I don't think I handled it as well as Biden did.

    2. I had just flown to and from Perth in the space of to days the week before, so perhaps I was still feeling tired from the effects of that.

    1. Thanks a lot Mark....you can rhank through glossy leaflet that comes with the Warlord figures for Washington's guard....I had never heard of them, but they are mentioned therein....using the starry headquarters flag is "speculative!"

  14. Ah, makes me feel even more patriotic.
Nice work on his excellency. I read the Washington biography by Chernow and found it very good.
We celebrated by doing patriotic crafts with the kids and then going out to a fireworks show. I didn’t buy our own fireworks as they’re technically illegal in my county and my wife hates it when I get them anyway bc she hates fun. So there was no conflict this year. lol. 😀

    1. I am pleased I inspired your feelings of patriotism Stew! Sounds like you had a fun day and your wife just sounds like.....a wife, lol.
We have fireworks here mainly to celebrate Guy Fawkes/Bonfire night on 5 November (part of our British heritage!). They are only on sale for about three days, say 3 to 5 Nov, but people (well, SOME people!) buy hundreds and stock pile them for other occasions such as Christmas, New Year, birthdays, weddings or just random nights of the year they feel like setting a few off!
