Just before I sign off for about three weeks, here is a quick update on progress on the new project - 10mm EIR Romans (and their enemies).
The figures are 10mm 3D prints by Cromarty Forge (see here 3D Printed Early Imperial Romans | cromarty forge (centimetrewarriors.com)) although my first batch came from Adam at Adrah Labs 3D Printing | Geelong in Australia.
My first "century" of regular legionaries.
Regulars and Auxiliaries together
The first century of Auxiliaries
I have also created a couple of "higher command" stands from the command pack
As with all these miniatures, the detail on the animal-skin head dress of the eagle bearer and musician, and the eagle itself, is truly amazing!
The second command stand - I do not know enough about the period to say what the difference is between the two eagles - maybe readers know?
A few more Roman command figures and the majority of the British command remain to be painted, but will have to wait for a few weeks, until my overseas visitors are winging their back to bonnie Scotland! Until then, take care of yourselves and enjoy your painting and gaming - I may pop onto blogs for the occasional view and comment, but don't think I will get nay opportunities to post here myself till around 25 Oct.
These little fellas out great! Very good sculpts. Enjoy your hobby break.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, they certainly are wonderful figures.
DeleteWow! That's an incredible collection!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael, and this is just the start of things....lots more to come, hopefully!
DeleteFabulous - great sculpts.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm...and great to hear from you!
DeleteCertainly looks good. The mass effect is very effective. Have fun enjoying your guests visit, see you late October.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe my thoughts exactly re the mass effect.
DeleteExcellent work there Keith and good to see you have been able to paint them up so quickly:)! Enjoy your break with your old chum and look forward to more NZ tourist brochure pics in due course as you take them out and about;).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I am sure there will be the odd pic or two of our various trips over the next three weeks!
DeleteVery nice work there Kieth- you certainly have a good collection of Romans- hats off to you for painting up the 10mm. I balked at 15mm and shelved the project- way too small I thought. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev, I was a bit worried my painting skills would not be up to this challenge, but I am happy with the results
DeleteThey look the bees knees Keith!
ReplyDeleteCheers Chris, I like them too!
DeleteFantastic sculpts, brilliantly painted.
ReplyDeleteThank you Richard, they certainly are fantastic miniatures!
DeleteThese are amazing. I cannot get over the detail and your excellent painting. Cannot wait to see them in action on your table.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Mark, they are superb little figures, aren't they?
DeleteGreat figures and really well painted, you have done a great job on them Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie, appreciate your comments!
DeleteGotta love the detail on those shields. Have a nice time on your break.
ReplyDeleteCheers JBM, I will be keeping an eye out for some of the Cromarty Forge figures appearing on your own blog some day soon 😀
DeleteAmazing work on these minis!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Michal.
DeleteThese are turning out great Keith
ReplyDeleteCheers Scotty, I am very happy with the Cromarty Forge figures!
DeleteKeith, these EIR figures are amazing! They certainly look like larger scaled figures. You can really see the details on the arms and armor.
ReplyDeleteI know Dean...the detail is insane! Too small for me to paint, but under magnification, you can see the TEETH on the lion and bear head dresses!!
DeleteThey have come up beautifully Keith. What rules will you be using, and can you see yourself expanding beyond Romans and Ancient British/Gauls?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, I am very happy with the results so far...not sure on rules yet. I might cobble together a version of the ones we used in Sundays Pulp game!
DeleteAs to expansion....it is always a possibly isn't it?! 😀
They look really good. I would not have through they were 10mm.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Peter, they are excellent little figures but when you look at them without glasses on, they are tiny!
DeleteGreat work Keith.
ReplyDeleteAlways good to get into a new project and find the results to be excellent.
Cheers Ben, yes, very pleased these Cromarty Forge figures turned out to be so good in the flesh....the second batch, ordered from. Aberdeen, are due to land at Auckland Airport in about 15 minutes....I am sitting in the carport waiting as I type this!
DeleteThat was some quick painting. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteHope you hobby break is enjoyable. Not that it can be as enjoyable as actually having a life break to do hobbying for 3 weeks. 😀
Thanks Stew....got my buddy and his wife here now, so looking forward to a good break from work!
DeleteSplendid looking Roman force, excellent detail and painting as they wade through the long grass!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks a lot Iain....historical research and archeological investigation indicates the average length of wild grass in 1st century Britain was significantly greater than we typically see today!
DeleteThey look really great. Great sculpts and great painting!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray, I am very happy with the results so far 😊
DeleteThe first batch have come out nicely Keith 👍
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt, I agree, and the rest are now in my hot little hands!
DeleteThey have come out really well Keith…
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday…
All the best. Aly
