Some More 1879 Brits

This week I have painted and based a few more of the individual Old Glory British infantry from my small lead pile. I am not sure these will ever see action, as I have never had any real desire to pursue skirmish level games in this period, but painting them is keeping me sane till I can get started on something more exciting again post all the Covid kerfuffle.

As others have pointed out, these are some of the  better OG figures, although one of these isn't the best, the figure doubling forward with his face buried into the barrel of his rifle. The head chosen for this pose is the same "screaming"mouth option as on the guy in the red jacket pointing, and it doesn't really work very well, the open mouth just looks like a grotesque facial deformity!

Not sure about this figure...is he an officer? He has no equipment and is wearing knee high boots, so I think he may be....

This is the guy with the deformed face 0- I took the image from an angle where it does not show

A couple of private soldiers advancing

A sergeant encouraging the front rank to keep moving forward...the pose does not work so well when individually based of course!

Very Slow Progress

Hi All, it has not been a very productive time recently – I have been binge watching a couple of shows on TV – firstly the BBC Series “Musketeers” from around 2015 I think (some good ideas/inspiration there for a skirmish level collection!) and then latterly, its been the five series of Ripper Street – I am only about two thirds of the way through this!
The net outcome is virtually no output from the painting table, but I have managed to do these four Colonial Brits – all Zulu war Brits in red coats

Also as we moved from Level 3 lock down to the more relaxed Level 2, I have taken the dog to the other side of town for a walk at a local “reserve” – here are a few images of that to

Apologies for the brevity of comments - I am doing this at work and need to complete as quickly as possible before someone asks me what I am actually doing :)

Weekend Progress

I had Friday 8 May as a day off, so have just had a long weekend and I have managed to put some of the time to good use by painting up a few more Colonial troops from my small lead pile

There are two gun crews, one in khaki, the other in more traditional blue, plus the last four highlanders from the group I have been working on for a couple of weeks. All the figures are based individually so they may be used for skirmish games if required. As with previous colonial collections, these are once again from Old Glory, as is the gun.

Next up, I have a group of slightly earlier colonial Brits that will be painted in red coats and blue trousers, a la Zulu War or the Second Afghan War (both around 1879)

Sons of the Empire - Part Two

Here are the remainder of the images of my Empire troops. A brief description below each one. As we are now at Level 3 in our COVID 19 alert system, I have returned to work, although many of my colleagues remain working from home - so the office is pretty quiet. Likewise the roads, my normal 60-90 minute commute is only taking 30 minutes at the moment - so a worldwide pandemic is not all bad!
