First Black Scorpion Cowgirl Painted

I have painted the first of nine cowgirls from Black Scorpion....this one is dressed traditionally in Stetson, loose shirt and waistcoat (or "vest" to use correct American usage!) and is armed with a six shooter revolver.

I found painting her harder than a similar metal figure because although the detail is all there, it is quite indistinct (well, to my fading eyesight at least) so areas like the eyes, I mainly just shaded black with a hint towards eyebrows etc.

I am reasonably happy with the end result although taking pictures that make a 30mm figure look like a 54mm one certainly does you no favours when it comes to judging the paint work!

Here are four images from different angles. I have started work tonight on the second figure, who is a Mexican Bandida in sombrero etc.

More Completed RCW - And Some New Arrivals

Here are the rest of the Bolshevik infantry I did over the weekend. Two stands of advancing comrades plus two Lewis LMG stands, which for ease of identification I have only two figures on, the Lewis gunner and a rifleman.

Following on from that are three images of my latest recruits, some truly exquisite female gunfighters  from Adam at Black Scorpion...these are the female deputy, a single figure, plus the female packs two and three of four figures each. They are cast in very fine detail in quality resin, which makes me a bit nervous as I fear they will be very easy to damage, so I will just have to be extra careful with them.  I just hope my painting skills are up to the challenge of bringing these ladies to life....

A Productive Saturday

Despite the fact that it has been a gloriously sunny day here today, I have spent the majority of the day at the painting desk, working on the recently arrived Copplestone Bolsheviks. I did have to pause for ninety minutes in the morning for a Saturday cafe visit with my dear wife, then again this evening from five till eight when we had a couple of friends come over, but basically the rest of the day has been spent painting.

Below are the some of the results of my labours, three command stands and two stand of riflemen, who are a mixture of Bolshevik infantry in greatcoats and Siberian rifles.

I also have an additional three  rifleman painted plus two, two man Lewis gun stands, but I will base those tomorrow.

First New Figures of 2020

Arrived home to find a small carton of figures from the good people at Caliver Books. A box of plastic Portuguese, some more RCW Bolsheviks, plus a set of early 18th century civilians as bystanders for WSS games.....and still got more to come...exciting times😄

First Game of a new Decade - Medieval

Today, six members of our usual group, plus Barry the umpire, met a Barry's place in Auckland for a medieval game loosely based on the battle of Agincourt.

As I am still unable to work out how to add comments under each image, unfortunately I will have to just put all the descriptions together below, then load the images.

The game was quite close fought in the end although the French certainly won a Pyrrhic victory, in that they completely destroyed the English army, but had very few units left on the field at the end of hostilities.

The French plan was a little bit more subtle than the original historical one, in that they advanced on both flanks as well as sending a third of their force against the English centre.

Mark, John and Paul commanded the French, while Chris, Rick and I took the English.
