So, I have just managed to refocus and get 75% of the way through the first six of my last twelve GNW cavalry figures, and then THIS happens! Two small packs arrive from the UK - one containing Statuesque female heads, the other containing 28 Copplestone Bolshevik infantry, the majority destined for a sex change!
As we are on the topic of distractions, here are the first four of my recently acquired Perry Afrika Korps figures, painted up in an approximation of the earlier version of the tropical uniform, complete with cork "Colonial" helmets...
The group of four
Officer in tropical headwear
Rifleman ditto
Kneeling officer or senior NCO
RT operator
Another comparison shot alongside one of the German themed Pulp Miniatures figures.
Swedes next time. on my honour!
Not a bad distraction
ReplyDeleteCheers Neil - the plan was to substitute female heads, the problem is, the Copplestone heads are so nice, it seems like a waste....so now, I think I will wait for the 40+ Brigade Games RCW figures to turn up and maybe use them instead!
DeleteAh, distractions or the flap of butterfly wings, either way, something common to most of us I'm sure! The DAK look great and love the earlier coloured uniforms:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I have just noticed these are not the sharpest photos ever.... must do better quality assurance before posting in future!
DeleteDistractions are healthy.
ReplyDeleteVery sage word Jon!
DeleteReally nice minis sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks you Michal - the Perry figures are a great starting point as usual!
DeleteI rarely like kneeling figures (mainly because I hate painting them), but the radio operator has a superbly natural pose - interesting that a 'back shot' can give such an impression - clever sculpting.
ReplyDeleteAs to the other .... Off with their heads!
Thanks Norm, I took the image from that unusual angle to show the dials and controls ob the RT set, which are very nicely done. I will await the arrival of the Brigade figures before deploying Madame Guillotine (indeed, some of the Copplestone faces are pretty androgynous and if if highlighted the cheeks and gave them bight red lips, I think they would pass as women!)
DeleteVery nice, good to see the butterfly effect is taking off again.
ReplyDeleteThe DAK look great.
Cheers
Stu
The butterfly is in full flight for sure Stu!
DeleteWith the female character and the ‘colonial’ style helmets I’m sensing an Indiana Jones theme đ
ReplyDeleteIndeed - I refer the Honourable Member to my blog statement of the 16th inst... :)
DeleteThose early DAK uniforms really are quite fetching. Nice work again Keith.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence - the Olive Green of the jacket is a bit more obvious to the naked eye that it seems here, I think!
DeleteWell, I take a few weeks off due to a stiff neck and I return to find this sort of thing--I'm hoping that the flutter of the pulp buttefly doesn't turn into a gale that sweeps me away as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed, glad to see you back in the land of the gaming! Just let the wind fill your sails and take you where it will....!
DeleteLovely work, I like the Perry africa korps,so an inter war tank next?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain - probably not - I am thinking a few Yesteryear type cars perhaps but nothing as heavy as a tank or even Sdkfz 250 or 222 etc...I want to keep it at a very low level of violence- pistols rifles etc!
DeleteI guess it's just because I liked the tank in the Indiana Jones film!
DeleteBest Iain
Great painting Keith. I've always loved the DAD'S uniform.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray - was your Dad in the Afrika Korps?? :) looks like the D is a long way from the K on the keypad so I am guessing this is a case of auto correct gone wrong!
DeleteThe butterfly is strong in this one…đ
ReplyDeleteThe DAK are clearly up to no good… someone needs to stop their dastardly plans…
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly, yes, there will be a host of opponents attempting to disrupt their evil schemes....mind you, some of them may have evil schemes of their own!
