Great Northern War - Riksänkedrottningens (Queen Dowager's) Livregemente till häst COMPLETED!

After a lot of wasted time, progress on completing the last Ebor cavalry regiment has been relatively rapid, and here they are:

The last two stands of Ebor cavalry to roll off the production line...

From above....

The left hand element from two different angles...

...and the right hand element ditto.

The full regiment in all its glory.

Next up I think I will be working on a few more of the Perry DAK figures I previewed a couple of weeks ago, while I await the (hopefully imminent) arrival of an order from Brigade Games.

    1. Cheers JBM - mostly RCW Bolsheviks but a few other bits n pieces too - they were ordered early July but only shipped about a month ago - I have found international freight from the US is even slower than from the UK of late for some reason....

    1. Dont you start! I only did the Swedes after being pestered about it for over a year by my mate Nick - HE is supposed to do the Russians but keeps getting distracted by multiple other projects - he has bought the figures but only painted a few so far! He has also suggested I should consider doing some Russians, but that way lies madness!

  3. Another lovely looking cavalry unit Keith…
Hopefully they will see battle sooner rather than later…

    All the best. Aly

  4. They may not be elaborate, but the blue with silver trimmings still delivers an impressive effect, particularly in combination with the flag.

    1. Thank you Ed - yes, for the GNW Swedes, blue is the new black when it comes to military fashion! The flag is pretty impressive isnt it?

  7. Good show for seeing this through, you should have a pretty fine box of units now. Parade, parade, parade! :-)

    1. Thanks Norm - I need to find an area large enough to accommodate a proper parade!

  8. Lovely looking cavalry, see? It wasn't that difficult, I guess cossacks are a bit less uniform but all the rest of the Russian stuff should be easy!

  10. Another fine cavalry unit for your GNW project, Keith. I like how you positioned them on the two stands - giving them a wedge attack formation.

    1. Thank you Dean - I toyed with actually having a wedge shaped basing system but settled for this solution in the end

    1. Thanks Lawrence - looking back at the posts, it hasn't really taken that long, it just seems like a bit of a slog when you start with sixty unpainted cavalry figures!

    1. Thanks Mark, not quite up to your AWI numbers I don't think but more than enough Swedes for my purposes I believe!

    1. Yes - in retrospect it hasn't been too bad Jon - I must try to remember that, next time I have to buy and paint cavalry!

    1. Well.....there is a possibility that I get another two boxes (24 figures in total) of the plastic WSS cavalry that I kicked this whole project off with - I made a bit of a miscalculation (thinking each base of 3 was a sqn and I needed 3 per regt) so have one full plastic regiment painted plus parts of two others - to complete these two partially done regiments, I would need another two boxes.....so that might happen Matt!
