Last of The Border Reivers

Apart from a few civilians, these are the last of the Border Reiver figures I have in the lead pile. These seven ruffians are by TAG and very nice figures they are too. For some reason, I missed one of them out of the group shots and I cant be bothered redoing them - he has his own individual shot so that will have to suffice!

I still have a number of orders en route from the UK and US - who knows when any of them will arrive, given Covid ANF Christmas - could be I dont see some of them till 2022...

  1. KEITH,
I'm in the same boat with a recent order from the UK- I'm being sensible and roughly allowing six weeks for delivery- any sooner will be a bonus. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Thanks JBM. Our Covid lock down is gradually loosening its grip, so that games may be viable again soon...so hopefully I will be able to start adding a few AAR's to my painting (b)log!

    1. Thanks Joe...with the Southern Hemisphere summer fast approaching, rainy days may be few and far between but that's ok, I can paint in the evenings, regardless of the weather conditions!

  4. A splendid gaming genre, and engagingly rendered figs make it doubly so. Here's to hoping that your orders arrive if not all at once at least in series sufficient to keep you occupied from one to the next.

  5. These look great, Keith! Too bad about the packages MIA. This is a disappointment, for sure. At least my package made it through the lines!

    1. Thanks Jon...most of my recent purchases only date from early November, so they are not really expected to be here yet...hopefully Kev is right and six weeks is around the travel time required to get here....

  7. A fine bunch of rapscallions Keith…
I’m looking forward to seeing what mischief they get up to…

    All the best. Aly

  9. TAG figures are great and you have done these justice as usual Keith. Six months delivery is my record so far during COVID. It was really just another army that has ended up the on the pile so I wasn't bothered about the wait, but I had given up on it a couple of months before the manufacturer did and he was about to replace it when it finally arrived. Anything routed through Hong Kong seems to me to be the weak link in terms of delivery times or missing shipments.

    1. Thanks Lawrence - yes, I guess the sensible thing would be just put a hold on overseas purchases until some air capacity is restored to international logistics....I am not sure I will risk any more purchases until things start to get back to normal. (Famous last words of course!)

    1. Thanks Iain, yes the TAG figures are very nice indeed and their bulk deals are pretty good value, especially here, when if you spend around sixty quid, they give free postage!

  14. Nice looking group of figures. I’m not sure what a Reiver is though. Or if you told me already then I forgot.

Hope you get your packages eventually. While it’s fun to expect things in the mail it’s certainly a time limited kind of fun. 😀

    1. Hi Stew - yes, expecting a mail drop can bring a nice feeling of anticipation, but after the third week kit becomes a bit less attractive - I definitely wont be ordering anything else till the New Year now!

I am not sure if I have defined what a Reiver is previously, so I stole this from Wikipedia "Border reivers were raiders along the Anglo-Scottish border from the late 13th century to the beginning of the 17th century. They included both Scottish and English people, and they raided the entire Border country without regard to their victims' nationality. Their heyday was in the last hundred years of their existence, during the time of the House of Stuart in the Kingdom of Scotland and the House of Tudor in the Kingdom of England."

Basically, for gaming terms, its a bit like Wild West gunfights but in Britain two hundred and fifty years earlier and with more swords than guns!
