The remainder of the winter uniformed US regulars join their comrades on parade tonight. I do like the all blue uniform, I must say.
I have now finished all the "complete" units of War of 1812, although I have enough left over for a couple more battalions and I am on the scrounge locally for potential officers. If none are available, I will look at a small purchase from one of the other manufacturers, although it wont be Brigade Games as unfortunately nothing has happened about my lost package yet, DESPITE the fact I paid compulsory insurance - I might have to look into whether my bank can forcibly reverse the payment.
First up below is one image each of the three new bases, then a series of images from various angles, including rear view to see the variation on the "US" labelling on the back pack, plus an aerial view to give an impression of the basing - enjoy!
Another great unit Keith and the all blue uniform does look good. As I think you mentioned before, they do look rather 'French' to my untutored eye. I hope you get your lost package sorted out one way or another, given you had to take out compulsory insurance.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve - yes, a bit French although the shako shape is wrong, being a copy of the Brits head gear! The galling part about the whole Brigade saga is, I probably would not have voluntarily selected insurance, but the shopping cart gave me no option...now, it does not seem that paying the insurance fee has provided me any extra protection! As I mentioned to Lon at Brigade, I work for a courier company and I know for a fact that if we had an item scanned into our network on 4 August that had no subsequent scan later than 8 Aug, we would have paid out a loss claim by now, no doubt about it!
DeleteIn all my internet dealings, I have never encountered compulsory insurance in a transaction. It would have put me off the whole deal. Had you used Brigade before?
DeleteKeith and Steve, I like the all blue uniform too but they remind me of Napoleonic Portuguese rather than French. Figures look great.
DeleteHi Andrew - yes I had used him a couple of times and dont think insurance was compulsory previously - maybe he has had a few issues with USPS - who are the main culprit after all!
DeleteHi Jon - yes - in fact, our mate Julian who is quite keen on maximising his return on investment, suggested exactly that - paint up the US War of 1812 figures then just have swappable commend bases with a Portuguese flag too!
DeleteIf it's USPS, didn't they stop shipping to Australasia a while back? Is that actually the problem? But then the package should have got back to him anyway?
DeleteBeautiful unit sir!
ReplyDeleteCheers Michal appreciate your support!
DeleteVery nice, I do like the all blue uniform
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty - me too!
DeleteLove the shade of blue, top brushwork Keith!
ReplyDeleteCheers ray - I like this darker blue too!
DeleteGreat looking unit, your force really taking shape!
ReplyDeleteThanks joe - I must do a parade - the recent units are just additions to my original project from a couple of years back
DeleteLovely, you have been prolific this year and a good variety too.
ReplyDeleteCheers Norm, yes, I do feel like its been a productive year!
DeleteGreat looking US regulars! Unfortunate experience with Brigade, I hope it's sorted out soon, keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain - I guess its not the end of the world and I suspect that the package MAY eventually turn up - its probably in limbo in an Australian postal sorting depot, waiting to be sent to NZ....
DeleteThe War of 1812 pitting US "Bluecoats" vs the British "Redcoats" does make for a very compelling game. Re Brigade, my experience with them has been generally positive, although there have been a few hiccups (not sure if this helps).
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed - its a nice "little" Napoleonic war. I have only dealt with Brigade once or twice - they have some very nice ranges and do a reasonable international shipping deal of on $15 if you spend $125. I have just found Lon a bit slow and unhelpful over this particular issue - a lot of figure manufacturers would just resend (not an option here) or at least refund after this length of time - I paid him early July!
DeleteThe Bluecoats look great en masse, Keith. I hope you get your missing package issue resolved soon - one way or another.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean - I hope so too!
DeleteGreat stuff Keith and, as Jonathan has said, if it weren't for the light blue backpacks they could double as Portuguese.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence and yes re the similarity with the Portuguese of a similar vintage!
DeleteWell at least the unit is complete
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt
DeleteThey look the business Keith…
ReplyDeleteI do hope we will see a parade at some point…
All the best. Aly
Cheers Aly - I may try to schedule a parade at the weekend
DeleteLooking fine indeed! I do like the helicopter pic. Nice job. 😀
ReplyDeleteGood luck on finding some suitable officers in overly dramatic poses.
Thanks Stew - so far, on offer I have a couple of very old Minifigs Napoleonic French officers in bicorns - they would look like teenagers in size next to modern 25/28mm but I might have to take up that option! The poses are the antithesis of dramatic - will add some variety I guess!
DeleteNice Unit Sir! And don't worry of they look 'too French'- regardless they're just targets for British redcoats!!
ReplyDeleteThank you John - I think Jon and Lawrence have the rights of it though - they look more Portuguese than French!
DeleteThey look great Keith, great contrast to the Brits.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Cheers Stu - yes, it is quite an attractive uniform!
