Ironically Bad Timing.......

After having last communicated with the CS team at Noble Knight re my order of 4 Nov round about 28 Nov, today, I decided it was time for a follow up (I sent an email to Lon at Brigade Games too, pointing out that its now more than six months since I paid him for the figures I am still waiting for.....).

Anyhoo, imagine my surprise when I went into the garage to get some ice cream at dinner time, and saw a largish brown cardboard box sitting on the chair at my painting desk - apparently, the Noble Knight order arrived sometime today and my wife put it out there but neglected to tell me about it!

Not to worry - I sent a second email off to the supplier to let them know the package had now arrived, and unboxed the new figures destined for the Pulp Project!

The cause of much excitement Chez Bydand!

The contents

Oyuki the Geisha by Reaper Miniatures

I envisage having a lot of fun painting these new characters for the Pulp collection!

  1. A long wait, but some real characters there. The 6 months wait on the other order is in a different league.

    1. Yes it certainly is Norm and I have found the reaction from Brigade Games a bit frustrating....but who knows, maybe that package will turn up in the next few days

  2. I've had that happen to me before Mark, but in the sense of making the call and then for the parcel to arrive that day. However not to the extend of the time you've had to wait! Those figures look superb and can't wait to see them painted up:)

    1. Thanks Steve - but who is Mark?! We are used to waiting a while for overseas deliveries here in the Antipodes - Covid has made kit worse, and then we can add in Christmas - so the 8 week wait is kind of understandable. I am very happy with all the figures and I am sure they will turn out rather nicely!

    3. Lol....no problem Steve.....I guess the rross in my blog doesn't help...I know to start with, I had to double check Pancerni was Joe etc....some bloggers, such as Jolly Broom Man or Nundanket, I still don't know their real names!

  3. Good to see at least one of your wandering boxes came through. I like how you can mine Reaper or other companies for 'related' figures to fit in a theme. Looking forward to the games in their the Pulp genre as you get these painted.

    1. Thanks Joe....I must start thinking about how I am actually going to get this collection not the table....!

    1. It has been a long wait Michal but they do say all things come to he who waits....I hope this is true for the July order too!

  5. One MIA package found, one more yet to go. This happens more frequently than one would think. For me, it is typically Vae Victis Wargaming magazine from France when I preorder its magazine. The wait is never six months, though.

  6. Six months is a silly amount of time to wait. Glad the parcel arrived in the end though. Those are some great minis and should be fun to paint up!

    1. Yes they are nice, characterful figures Dai. That's the great thing about this Pulp Project....it's given me an excuse to buy all sorts of random figures!

  7. Good to see one of the orders arrived; hope you get your order from Bde Games soon. I recognize that Meiji Officer as I had once intended to pick him up for the Old Glory RJW figures I have to lead. Ah, another long forgotten project.

    1. Thanks Dean, RJW eh? Our gaming buddy Mark at 1866 and All That has both sides for that conflict, using Tsuba miniatures, which are very nice sculpts.

    1. Cheers Ray....they ARE nice figures! These "only" took about eight weeks, the order placed on 4 July is still AWOL!

    1. Totally agree Scotty and as mentioned to Mr Freitag above, fingers are firmly crossed for the arrival of the Brigade Games order!

  10. They look a fun collection of figures Keith! Looking forward to hearing their stories as they unfold.

The long saga of the six month order (Ray is tight, it’s taking the piß) makes me grateful for being in the UK. At least in terms of getting wargaming supplies.

    1. Yes they are all very nice figures so I hope I can do them justice with my brushes! In terms of freight delays, there seems to be a particular issue with the US. I only ordered these figures after the guys at Nibke Knight told me they used FedEx....but it still took about three times longer than their estimate!

  12. Noble Knight are very quick in their turnaround. It will be interesting to see if the Brigade Games order does eventually turn up, but six months has been the limit of my patience to date.

    1. Yeah Noble Knight (and to be fair, Brigade Games) are not the main issue...it's the freight connections between here and the US obviously. Lon at Brigade keeps referring to NZ Customs not accepting incoming freight but I do not think that's correct...boxes of toy soldiers have arrived from several UK suppliers plus one in France....a bit slower than two years ago, but they still all turn up.

  13. Some fine looking toys Keith…
The longest I had to wait for anything was a Kickstarter… nearly three years.
Like many I had given up on it… I was very surprised when it did turn up.
    I won’t be doing it again…

    All the best. Aly

    1. Cheers Aly, they are nice toys for sure! I haven been tempted by the idea of kick starters ....in fact, back before they were "a thing", I signed up with Eureka to their 100 club and pre ordered/ paid for some female Cataphracts - but apart from that, I have never been brave enough to commit my hard earned dosh as yet. A three year wait would definitely leave a bad taste in the mouth!

  14. I've had more than one occasion where my email inquiring about a delivery crossed the path of an inbound package. Wish it were the case for you with Brigade. I've been a long time customer of Noble Knight and have always found them to be superb: I'm glad they came through for you, anyway!

    1. Thanks Ed! Noble Knight have been lightening quick with responses to my emails and they dispatched the order within twenty four hours so no blame attaches to them for the long delivery wait. Great figures and great service. As for Brigade......we shall just have to wait and see....
