My first post of the new year is an update on Les Pulpistes Francais and more bush walk images.
Toy soldiers first of course!
These again are the very nice WW2 French Dragons Portes by Crusader Miniatures
The kneeling figure is officially part of the HMG crew but he is now an NCO
Another NCO who was a left over from the RCW incarnation of these figures, as his SMG was out of place in 1920 Russia...
Below are the second two walks we did a few days ago, down at Waitomo - more have followed in quick succession, so I will inflict additional scenic views on you in due course :)
Below is the Marokopa Waterfall, which was a short drive up the road from the cave and a ten minute walk from the car park
I am sure that's enough sunny NZ landscape to be going on with today. Hope no one has a hang over or other ill effects of bringing in the New Year - we had a pretty quiet one, as befits our advancing years, and to be honest, that suited me fine. I really don't get that excited about it anymore!
Great looking new minis and welcome in 2022!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal - happy New Year to you too!
DeleteHappy new year matey!
ReplyDeleteCheers - and same to you JBM!
DeleteHappy new year Keith, nice figures.I think I missed your french for RCW will have a look back although I have plenty to do and I wasn’t thinking of expanding my RCW much this year. Nice caves too 👍
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt... and the same to you! You can see the Dragons Portes used as RCW Bolsheviks here https://1808534.blogspot.com/2021/05/reinforcements-on-different-fronts.html
DeleteHappy New Year to you too Keith! As always nice figures for your pulp project and good to see some more local scenery. However the Piripiri sign makes me thing of the rather nice spicy sauce from the Caribbean:)
ReplyDeleteHaha....yes I suppose so Steve!
DeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI like what you are doing with your Frenchmen. Very good!
Beautiful landscapes too. How tall is the waterfall in your photos? You are surrounded by beautiful and interesting scenery. Here, all of our scenics are buried in snow!
Thanks Jon. As I had to Google the name of the waterfall, having omitted to take a pic of the sign because it was othe opposite side of the road, I happen to have noted that the height of the Marokopa Falls is 35 metres, so maybe around 130 feet? Snow covered scenery looks quite picturesque too, but as I recall from my younger days, presents many practical problems for day to day life!
DeleteHappy New Year Keith!
ReplyDeleteKeep ‘inflicting’ your scenic views on us.
Thanks and to you too....I will be happy to keep the scenic images coming!
DeleteHappy New Year and nice work on the French
ReplyDeleteCheers Scotty, and Happy New Year to you too!
DeleteThose are very nice Keith, I always liked the French uniforms, one of my very first projects. Way before the blog existed.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu. I have always liked the Adrian helmet, it's a nice shape! Even if your French pre dated your blog, you could still have a parade...I have presented examples of al my collections at some point in the last few years, and many were painted ten years or more before I ever considered a blog....
DeleteNice work on the figures. Looking out on 3rd day of drizzle and 40 degrees (F) I can really appreciate your hiking location photos. Please feel free to continue with those.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. Others seem happy for me to continue with these too so I expect to share plenty more over the next few months
DeleteMore lovely work Keith. I would like to visit the Waitomo caves but haven't yet been able to convince my wife to accompany me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. Yes, it's a pretty magical experience in the Glow Worm caves, silently floating along the water in the pitch black, with the only light coming from the little creatures above.
DeleteA nice hobby start to the new year Keith…
ReplyDeleteLovely scenic views… keep them coming… it’s nice to be reminded what nice weather looks like…
All the best and Lang May Yer Lum Reek. Aly
Cheers Aly - painting has taken a back seat to walking recently, but we are having a day off so might get a few more figures done later today.
DeleteHappy New year.
ReplyDeleteAnd the same to you Norm!
DeleteHNY to you too mate! Good to see you are getting the walks in…I would like to as well but I pinched a nerve in my back so have been less mobile than I would like and annoyingly has stopped me from completing a bunch of maintenance tasks around home.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read this Mark...an irritating start to 2022 for you then, hopefully it comes right soon.
DeleteThanks Keith. I have still managed to do quite a bit of work on my terrain tiles - it is easier to stand at a work bench than crouch down to repair the paving in the back yard.
DeleteHmmmm...sounds like kit may not be such a problem in that case..... :)
DeleteLovely looking French and nice scenery!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, on both counts!
