I have now assembled and painted all 8 artillery pieces I acquired from the HaT plastic 1/72 range - 4 x 37mm Pak 36 and four British WWI field guns. All the AT guns are crewed - two each Nationalist and Republican - and I have done one of the Minairons metal gun crews to go with a field gun - first off the bench was a Nationalist crew - with an officer who could easily be repurposed to represent Generalisimo Franco 'is self!
Currently on the painting desk are more Requetes Militia (they of the red berets) and the first of the Nationalist Regular Moroccan Infantry, who should put in an appearance later in the week, all going to plan.
Above and below are the two Republican AT guns. Based on no evidence whatsoever, I have decided that the guns will be painted a similar khaki shade as the Republican uniforms....
.....and the Nationalist guns a darker green, akin to the colour of the Nationalist Regular army uniforms!
Here is the Minairons crew - I have taken several different angles, including a couple sans weapon
Zoom in on the above and I am sure you will recognise the resemblance to the Great Leader!
Having looked in both artillery crew packs, there isn't a lot to define them as specifically one side or t'other, (except one guy wearing an Adrian helmet, which makes him Republican in my book!), so I will do one crew each as intended and one each with a mix of officers etc, just for some variety.
Thanks for dropping by - have a good week!
All the guns look great Keith, as does the great leader. It's gotta be based on him surly?
ReplyDeleteGreat units there Keith. The advantage of the SCW is that pretty much you can use most figures for either side, with the odd exceptions such as the Requettes, due to their rather large berets. However I'm sure with a different paint job they would look OK for 'normal' beret wearing infantry.
ReplyDeleteVery true Steve....even the Guardia Civil were split almost equally between the two sides, so they can fight in either army too!
DeleteGreat looking guns. You can never have too many
ReplyDeleteSo true Scotty and in this scale, it's not as xpensive as usual, given the availability of 1/72 plastic kits! These eight guns cost me a grand total of $16....about £8!
DeleteExcellent artillery park, Keith! You have been keeping yourself quite busy on the production line.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, I am getting there in bursts of activity!
DeleteSplendid looking artillery, I particularly like the WW1 guns with Franco himself popping in!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain! The officer figure reminds me of the one that came with the original Airfix WWII German infantry, doing the Sieg Heil salute 😀
DeleteExcellent looking battery sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal.
DeleteGreat additions and real value for money.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu, that's what I thought too!
DeleteHe does look like General Franco, doesn't he? Lovely work of the artillery pieces Keith.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence, he maybe needs to ba a bit shorter and stouter (for Franco!)
DeleteThose AT guns aren't going to hit much firing at the sky:))
ReplyDeleteLol...yes, I had not really noticed the angle till I took the photos Andrew....as soon as I saw them, I thought of your comment re the guns on the Sherman's or Achilles a couple of months back !
DeleteNice! That officer is definitely the Caudillo Himself! :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris😊
DeleteGreat looking Guns, and the mysterious officer looks very much alive.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark, he us an impressive figure!
DeleteExcellent work!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ben, thanks for your visit and comment!
DeleteNice looking units, Keith there seems to be a lot of people doing SCW at the moment ….tempting but I already have enough 👍
ReplyDelete"Already have enough"...? Sorry, I don't understand that concept, Matt!😂.....my wife, on the other hand, would agree 100%!
DeleteArtillery park, artillery park
ReplyDeleteHow very cool looking thou art
It’s lots of fun
To fire big guns
In my miniature artillery park.
😀
A veritable reincarnation of Shakespeare walks among us....who would have guessed!
DeleteWell done Keith. Good to see that even the leader can get down with the gunners occasionally!
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark...Napoleon provided a good example for all other military dictators to emulate! Is that term unfair on L'Empereur....? I don't really know enough about the politics of his rule to say!
