Something a bit different for the start of the new month (well here in New Zealand its almost 2 June)
These are the 20mm 20th Century Civilian refugees I got along with the Chetniks and Russians about two months ago.
I expect to use these mostly for the SCW, but they can obviously pop up more or less anywhere in Europe from 1914-1945 and probably later than that if you had a need.
Two sets of figures, each comprising five refugees, three women and two men
The two "younger" men carrying a bedding roll and suitcase
Two women with small son
A small familia
Two old codgers, I removed the cane from one figure just for very minor variety
Two middle aged women with bundles
Two elderly women (crones!) with a sack over one shoulder and a suitcase in hand
One group of refugees being questioned by a Guardia Civile.
A second group being spoken to by a Republican officer.
Thats it for tonight, short and sweet. I have more of these 20mm figures ready for a show and tell in a few days, and should then have more Russian GNW figures to present - the next regiment on the painting table is this one
Nice painting work on the Civilians set Kieth- well done- always like to have Civilians for that special scenario. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev and yes, having a few non combatants on the table always adds to the look, even if they are just window dressing.
DeleteExcellent characters and interesting how different paint jobs can make the same figure look different.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm glad you like them.
DeleteBeautiful work sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal!
DeleteNice work. Civilians are always handy for games
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are Scotty!
DeleteYour paint brush remains busy, Keith. Galitski Regiment will look smashing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, the first six Galitski figures are halfway there!
DeleteVery colorful figures, Keith. I love non-combatant miniatures. As for the Russians, I can say that the vast majority of the regiments of the army of Peter the Great still wore green uniforms. In the works of historians, the Russian army is referred to as the "green wall", "green rampart", "green ranks", "green battalions" Swedish historian Peter Englund, even a "green monster". Sincerely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Valentin. I note that a lot of the uniform cards on the Tacticus blog mention green and red in later years, even if the the picture shows a blue or white coat! I will do some more units in the "standard" uniform, but where possible, I like to add variety. I did the same with my Swedes...I guess three quarters of them wore blue with yellow facings, and I have some painted that way, but I deliberately looked for ones with red or white facings too, like Narke Varmlands, to add some different looking units!
DeleteNicely done and always useful to have 👍
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt....I think so too!
DeleteCivilians are always great things to add to a table. Nice job. 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew, that definitely seems to be the majority opinion!
DeleteNice work Keith. There is quite a variety of figures among the group, with lots of character.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, yes, for a five figure pack, it feels like you can create quite a mixed group
DeleteCool figures Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Chris, appreciate it!
DeleteNice work there Keith and the variety of colours used helps 'hide' the same poses. I've bought some Civvies for some BKCII scenarios, especially France 1940, plus others to 'decorate' the table in other Centuries.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. Yes, I have some civilians for other eras too, I think they add a bit of interest to a table, like they do to a model railway layout and sometimes, they can even play a role in a scenario!
DeleteGreat work Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ben!
DeleteSuper work Keith. I have enough problems finding time for painting troops never mind doing civilians.
ReplyDeleteLol I seem to be in the minority in having pretty well as much time as I want Richard. If nothing on Netflix etc distracts me, I can easily get a solid three hours plus per night after dinner, and more on the weekends. This Monday is Kings Birthday here in NZ, so it's a three day weekend, and I am hoping to ge a lot of hobby time!
DeleteGreat looking civilians. Certainly a scenario right there in the officer looking at the refugees? Nice preview of the next Russian unit, you will have enough units to be in a small action soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe....perhaps one of these figures is a Republican or Nationalist spy, passing through a checkpoint on forged paper, carrying vital information back to their headquarters.....?!
DeleteYes! And the search turns up nothing but suspicion continues. Possibly an agent follows the potential spy.
DeleteGreat looking collection of civilians!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks a lot Iain!
