Reinforcements arrive!

Much excitement this evening when I returned home to find a rather bashed and disheveled looking package awaiting me on the entrance way table! After a considerable wait (since 6 May, in fact) my six battalions and two gun crews from Nick at Ebor Miniatures had finally arrived!

The parcel was in a bit of a state and to be fair, if our company had a claim for damage on an item of freight that looked like this, it would probably be declined based on "insufficient packaging!"

But fortunately, upon inspection, everything appeared to be in order (although I have not checked every figure in all seven bags as yet)

Artillery - 8 figures - with two copies of the first three above

A selection of figures from the first battalion bag (in Karpus headwear)

A selection of figures from the second battalion bag (in Karpus headwear)

A selection of figures from the third battalion bag (in tricorn headwear)

The fourth battalion

Fifth battalion

Sixth and final battalion

As always, fantastic figures from Nick at Ebor, I really like these Paul Hicks sculpts. Now, I have to have some self-control, and finish off the plastic cavalry BEFORE I start playing with my shiny new toys!

Next time, a few figures that will be a slight surprise I expect, as they are a bit of a change from my recent output!

  1. Always a dismaying sight to get a biffed package, with my boardgames that usually does transfer to damage of the game - luckily your fine chaps are looking good.

    1. Thank Norm...I was a bit worried, as I have received packages from Ebor before with the odd figure missing a bayonet or even snapped off the base at the ankles, but the Russkies seem to have survived their trip relatively unscathed ....I had to straighten a few muskets but nothing too major!

  2. A good deal of painting ahead of you there Kieth with the metal EBOR miniatures- I must admit I do prefer metal over plastics. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Thanks Kev....yes, should keep me busy till mid/late August, I should think. All things being equal, I also prefer metal figures, but the hard plastics are just as nice when painted and of course, are significantly cheaper. Particularly cavalry!

  6. Great looking figures, nasty looking box, but it did its job and the cargo came through! Looking forward to seeing all this Russian/Swede energy on the table in a couple months.

    1. Thanks Joe, it was barely a box at all, the cardboard was so weak....but as you say, I'd did the job and to be fair to Nick, there was plenty of bubble wrap inside.

  7. Self control? What's that?
I shall look forward to see these painted up, next week?

  8. I have had packages that arrived like that as I suspect most of us have, but normally things are so well wrapped in bubble wrap it is rare to have any breakages. They look like lovely figures.

    1. This is one of the flimsiest I have received Lawrence...my real concern was something had fallen out in transit...but fortunately all appears to be in order!

  9. Having package many a model for overseas delivery, with them costing tens of thousands of pounds at times, this box was obviously not sturdy enough. Always worth investing in thick '3 ply' cardboard boxes which are pretty damned tough. Sometimes we'd double box them just to be safe!

Anyway, glad that the figures arrived OK and I must say they are lovely sculpts, which almost make we wish I still gamed in 28mm! Looking forward to seeing them painted and to what you've been painting of late too.

    1. Thanks Steve...as you probably know, one of official tests for international freight is you can drop it from 1 meter and the package and contents not be damaged.
This was not so much a carton as a parcel constructed from corrugated cardboard, bit it got here and that is main thing!

    1. Yep....that was certainly my concern Mark....hence the pictures before I opened it up...just in case. But happily, everything I was expecting was still within 😊✌️👍

  13. That was quite a long wait for the order, Keith. Good to see that the figures look like they arrived in good condition - despite the brutal looking packaging.

    1. That is just the way it is with UK mail since Covid, Dean. In the past, two weeks was average and I have had stuff turn up in a few days on some occasions. It's actually quite ridiculous how slow it still is, given Covid really isn't a thing any more and most aspects of life are back to normal.....

    1. Thanks Richard. I wonder if perhaps the less than perfect packaging explains the rather good postage rates?

I have had parcels like that… but mine hadn’t travelled round the globe.
Good to see that they survived.

Speaking of those contents - wow! Those are some really nicely detail and crisp sculpts too. Looking forward to seeing them getting a lick of paint mate!

    1. Thanks Dai, and yes, Ebor do some great figures (Paul Hicks I believe) and his charges are super reasonable...the bulk deal I did gets me these at 94p each!
