Not so many words tonight as my last post - maybe I will get more comments left as a result!
First up are the three recently acquired IS II Red Army tanks
All three have the Guards emblem on the turret, plus the assorted three-digit numbers that come with the decal sheets. The first has the plastic commander in the main hatch.
The second has a fully closed up turret
And the third has a converted female commander in the secondary turret hatch
And here are a few images of all three tanks advancing across the steppe!
Secondly, I have completed the female Red Army soldiers 3d printed for me by Forge of Generals in Warsaw.
Officer with SMG
A series of rifle armed privates
And finally, an LMG gunner
The full group charging together.
I am very pleased with these 3d prints, once again, and am looking forward to working on the 85mm AA gun and crew, purchased from the same supplier.
Thats all for tonight and my last post of March 2025 - next up will hopefully be a mid-week solo game report.
Deadly gun! Panzers don't like it :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work.
Thanks Michal...in fact, it wasnt as deadly as we might think, as it was basically a 122mm artillery piece in a turret, rather than a purpose built AT gun....but if the shell hit you, it would still be unpleasant!
DeleteLovely work Keith, I think the three Russian tanks should make awesome opponents on the table for the Germans, the 3D printed female soldier have painted up really well, good sense of movement on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie, I agree, the poses on the 3d prints are very dynamic!
DeleteGreat work on these!
ReplyDeleteThank a lot Bill!
DeleteNice job on the IS II’s. I have just been playing a board system in which tanks can fire twice in a turn …… but the IS II can only fire once due to them handling 2 part ammunition. That was enough of a disadvantage for them to come off worse when facing the same number of Panthers and I think in this game, that will always be the case.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm.....yes, I dd read that about the 122mm gun...hence my comment to Michal above....but I won't mention it to my opponents if you don't 😉
DeleteOnly one thing more dangerous than a babe with a machine gun: one in a tank!
ReplyDeleteVery true Ed!
DeleteI am green with envy on your tank work. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLol thanks Jon!
DeleteGreat looking tanks and figures Keith.
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray...I am happy with how they came out
DeleteGreat looking IS2s! I've got a warlord games one built waiting for primer since last summer , the infantry looks ace!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain....these three are also Warlord/Bolt Action. Time you slapped some paint on your one?!
DeleteGot to wait till I get home! Strictly a diet of napoleonic till Easter!
DeleteBest Iain
Yes I did realise that after I said it Iain!
DeleteThose IS2's look very impressive
ReplyDeleteCheers Scotty...I thought the images with the huge gun in the foreground looked pretty intimidating!
DeleteThe figures look great and those ISIIs look terrific. That green looks even better on the larger tanks like this.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. I was happy with the colour, even though lighter/ brighter shades also look very nice.
DeleteGreat work on these Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Ben, they are nice models.....both tanks and infantry!
DeleteGreat looking additions.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark, I appreciate it as always!
DeleteThree iron behemoths. Well played. Nice infantry in support. I will be looking forward to seeing the 85mm gun and crew.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, you should not have too long to wait!
DeleteExcellent work on the tanks and a nice touch to have the Guards badge on the turret, not something you normally see. Those female soldiers look pretty cool and will strike fear into the Fascists I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I wanted to tie the three tanks together as a "unit" ..... and who doesn't want the Guards in their army?! 😀
Deleteexcellent job! The Red army strikes again except that it's green. 😁
ReplyDeleteHaha...thanks Stew....Armya Krashnya (Red Army phonetically in Russian) ....not sure what Green Army is though?
DeleteIS-2's always look so imposing, especially when they are presented in numbers! Really cool stuff Keith.
ReplyDeleteAnd those ladies! Wow - excellent sculpts and they look brill painted up. Great additions to the horde.
Thanks Dai....I think you have some experience of 3d prints in your BA Greek collection? I have yet to be disappointed with the quality of any 3d stuff I have purchased!
DeleteCracking looking toys Keith…
ReplyDeleteThose IS-2’s certainly look formidable…
All the best. Aly
They do indeed Aly, although Norm is correct, the two part artillery ammunition meant a low rate of fire vis a vis enemy tanks....the Russians just compensated by having 5 of them for every panzer, I guess!
DeleteLovely work Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard!
DeleteGreat looking armour and infantry. You converted the latter from raw figures to well-painted beauties in short order!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Cheers James - I enjoyed painting all these - looking forward to doing the AA gun and crew soon!
