Not significantly different from the recent Pulp figures, but as I await the long hoped for arrival of about 60 Bolshevik reinforcements from Brigade Games (still no new tracking since they left a USPS facility in NYC on 8 August - sigh), I decided to paint up a few of their 20 odd Copplestone comrades who arrived from Caliver a few weeks ago. I have combined these with a couple of conversions using the Anvil Industry female heads.
The six completed so far - a command base and two LMG bases. Standard infantry bases have three figures each
This officers head is in fact a Statuesque Pulp scale sculpt, complete with separate pony tail!
She is with an unconverted Copplestone Standard Bearer and will command a mixed male and female unit
The two previously converted Lewis gunners with a standard Copplestone Siberian rifle buddy each - the rifle armed figure above is intended to be female (hence the red lips!). I think the sharply defined cheeks on these faces allows them to look convincing as either sex?
A few more Bolsheviks are nearing completion and another batch of the Tsuba figures have been under coated, ready for action as Warlord Chinese.
Lovely work sir!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal, I hope all is well with you!
ReplyDeleteSuperb work
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil, glad you like them
DeletePumping out great figures, Keith! Love the fur cap and beautiful flag.
ReplyDeleteThanks you Dean - yep the internet does have its uses - I just Googled Bolshevik flags or banners and found heaps of free on line images I could copy and reduce to the right size!
DeleteWell done, lovely figures...and period!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, yes the inter war years have some pretty cool possibilities for unusual armies!
DeleteVery nice Keith…
ReplyDeleteThe mix of heads/genders works really well…
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly - I am sure in the true spirit of socialism, they would not have had anything as repressive as single gender regiments! (even though I intend to create one or two :))
DeleteLovely work Keith, and the figures with the Siberian hats are particularly eye-catching.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence - yes, I like the Siberian Rifles pack, I must admit!
DeleteThe flashes of red paint and the superb flag against all of the khaki green make for a very lively grouping.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm - yes, it is a nice transitionary period - still a bit of colour in some of the uniforms and nice big flags (although in reality maybe they did not take flags into battle that often, even in 1919....)
DeleteVery cool! And you’re certainly being productive! 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew! I really like doing these figures, the uniforms are pretty simple, minimal equipment and the Copplestone sculpting makes them easy to paint - so its not too hard to keep output ticking over!
DeleteGreat work Keith, with a nice mix of figures and a great flag to boot!
ReplyDeleteCheers Steve - a couple more done tonight so will have more to post on here in a day or two.
DeleteNcce work there Kieth on the new figures- splendid painting!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev - just layer upon layer of gradually lighter khaki/green - its a simple process but comes out looking quite effective
DeleteThose look great Keith. Wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Cheers Stu - its an era/collection I started several years ago but go back to every now and then - I probably have more than enough RCW Bolsheviks already but as I have mentioned, another sixty are en route from Brigade Games at the moment!
DeleteSplendid and a lovely flag indeed 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt - lots of interesting flags available for this army - mostly red though, for some reason ......! :)
DeleteGreat work on the figures. These look like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark, I do find this a fun collection to work on!
DeleteVery fetching! I always found the mix of banners and flags among otherwise contemporary figures an alluring aspect of RCW/ Back of Beyond gaming (and Pulp, of course!).
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed - yes indeed - I have just about completed the first Chinese Warlord unit and they too have a flag!
ReplyDeleteAt lease a month for postage from the US, I find. Same for you?
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Well this one certainly ahs been James - and now, USPS has suspended post to Australia until the Covid lock downs are eased - they do not seem to have done the same for NZ but perhaps my item is languishing in an Oz Post site somewhere at Sydney airport....
