Back to the USSR.....

After the Pulp Chinese force, I moved on to finishing off the few remaining Copplestone Bolsheviks in the lead pile, comprising a couple of officers and standard bearers plus six infantrymen from the Siberian Rifles and the Bolshevik infantry in greatcoats packs - wonderful figures all, although the two officers are particularly fine, in my opinion

The first command group are wearing great coats. Not sure what the flag is, its another one I found via Google a couple of days ago

I really like the officers pose, striding forwards as he glares, steely eyed, towards the foe!

The second command group - I think this officer is one of my favourite Copplestone figures

The first group of great coated infantrymen - I do not know how accurate it is to have both grey and khaki greatcoats, but I like the variety

I like the facial expression of the screaming figure in the centre of the second group

That's all my Bolsheviks done - I should have a whole lot more on hand but I am STILL awaiting the arrival of the Brigade Games shipment, last seen on USPS T&T at NYC on 8 August....I hope to hear soon from Lon at Brigade Games about what he is going to do to rectify this, as no other overseas order has taken much longer than a month, including during the Covid era.

  1. You've been quite productive in this theater, nicely done brushwork. Now for some AAR's?

  2. Agree, splendid poses and character in those sculpts. The opportunity to use both muted and bright colours on the figures brings some really nice contrast to the bases.

  3. Lovely stuff mate. Surprised at the Brigade situation, I’ve had some fairly extended waits for things myself recently, though not that long, and I agree it can be very trying.

    1. Cheers JBM - its starting to annoy me to be honest - and lack of feedback from the supplier doesnt help - his cart "forced" me to pay and extra $4 for insurance, so I have suggested to him he use that and send me replacements - but nothing heard from him for quite some time

  4. Those are great and years ago I was very tempted by some of the Copplestone figures when I still games in 28mm, as I loved the look of their sculpts. The flag as always really compliments the figures.

    1. Thanks Steve - yes, the Coppl;estone figures are all great work - pity he does not seem to have added anything for about ten years....

  5. Nice work again Keith. I wonder how many orders are going missing in these COVID times? I lost a substantial Perry order which they replaced, and an order of flags. That's two this year, and only one other ten or so years ago.

    1. Yes it seems odd Lawrence - although working for a courier company, I know we pay out on "loss" claims every day! At the moment, even our domestic freight is dodgy - I bought a Matchbox Yesteryear car off someone in Invercargill about a week ago and it still hasnt shown up in Auckland....

  8. Lovely toys Keith…
I like the mixed colours for the greatcoats… I can’t imagine that uniform supplies would have been consistent during the civil war…

    All the best. Aly

  10. Back to the USSR looks good to me! Too bad about your AWOL package from Brigade Games. Is he unresponsive to email/IM/etc.? Maybe someone from the States could give him a call for you?

    1. Thanks Jon - Lon has responded once about two weeks ago saying he would lodge a query with USPS but I have contacted him again subsequently and so far no response....

  12. Nice looking stuff!

I heard that the USPS stopped service to Australia. Maybe that includes NZ? Shame about that package. I’ve always had great dealings with BG.

  13. Thanks Stew - I am aware of the recent USPS decision re mail to Australia but a) the item left NYC 7 weeks ago so predates that announcement by about a month and b) NZPost has a list on their website of countries not sending mail to NZ and the US is not one of them! Thats not to say that issues in Australia arent the reason for the delay - I dont know if our mail goes via Oz but it seems likely. I have had mixed feedback on BG - I have had a couple of orders off them and never had any problems but a friend wont deal with them any more due to communication issues.....

    1. Thanks Dean, I try to add some variety to the bases - a good base can enhance an averagely painted figure every time - poor bases have exactly the opposite effect!
