Here are the remaining six Hussar figures from the Perry plastic box set (in fact, there are two more, as the box contains 14 mounted figures - I have assembled and painted the "spares" as couriers, for games where such are required)
Not a lot to say about these that I did not say about the first six, so I will let the pictures do the talking!
The two couriers are not quite done yet, so will follow in a subsequent post. Currently on the painting table are the last few Irregular Miniatures 20mm SCW as well as 15mm FoW WWII Brits. En route from various locations are 28mm Napoleonic Chasseurs a Cheval, 20mm SCW and 20mm WWII Chetnicks or Ustasi (I cant remember which but they are from "the former Yugoslavia"!)
Thanks for dropping by - another post in a couple of days I expect.
Nice work! Your painting desk looks quite busy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon - "busy" is a nice way of saying "messy"! I have taken a picture of its new, semi tidy state post last weekend carpet laying tidy up - I may post it next, in response to Aly Morrisons recent pic of his painting desk.
DeleteA fine job on these chaps and the characterful faces have really been brought out … I am dreading putting mine together and painting :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm - give them a go - I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
DeleteAnother fine unit of dashing Hussars Keith:).
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Steve!
DeleteGreat looking unit Keith. Masterful painting.
ReplyDeleteCheers Richard, they are nice figures to paint
DeleteLooking good Keith…
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing your desk 😁
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly - the desk is in an almost acceptable state at the moment, so if I am ever going to reveal it to the world, now is the most opportune time!
DeleteAnother lovely cavalry work!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sir!
DeleteNicely done Keith, I have a box to do at some point 👍
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt...it's a race between you and Norm to see who can get them done first!
DeleteNicely done
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty.
DeleteVery good work - can't beat hussars for eye candy either! :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
David.
Thanks David
DeleteBeautifully done Keith. I can vaguely recall doing the 10th back in the day, but can't remember why I chose them. I think I liked the round number.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's as good a reason as any other Lawrence!
DeleteThe Hussars are first rate! Looking forward to the couriers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, they should be along soon!
DeleteOoooohhhh,,, fancy. I like the grey mustache ones the best. reminds me of my father. I also like the bases. 😁
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew. I am a great believer in putting a bit if effort into the basing, as nice basing certainly enhances an averagely painted figure, whereas, conversely, a really nicely painted figure on a poor base looks pretty average!
DeleteA second batch of these lovely cav is very welcome. Not that I'll be embarking any time soon on yet another new project, but I've been reading up on the War of 1812 a little - did the British field any Hussars there I wonder? Would be fun to have an excuse to pick some up so I can try my hand at those cool uniforms.
ReplyDelete2 squadrons of the 14th Light Dragoons (they served dismounted at New Orleans) and also 2-3 of the 19th Light Dragoons served in the War of 1812 but no hussar regiments, I'm afraid. You could depict them in the very hussar-like uniform (but with Tarleton helmet) of pre-1812, though.
DeleteThanks for your comment Dai...I was going to provide same feedback as David above...but he beat me to it! I have an 1812 collection and included the 19th (I think!) I also used the Tarleton heads for Canadian Yeomanry units...
DeleteThanks David, I'll save that bit of info in my 1812 folder for the future. Sounds like sourcing and switching out for the correct head-gear will make for a fun project!
DeleteKeith, I know I'm a lonely voice saying so, but I'd love to see a parade of your 1812 collection. :)
I can do that for you Dai....pop back soon!
DeleteGreat work Keith!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Ben, appreciate your comments!
DeleteSplendid looking hussars, always a hit!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Cheers Iain!
DeleteNow they look rather dashing, great job Keith.
ReplyDeleteCheers
