But Wait...... There Is More!

This is a common refrain on so called infomercials on TV here in New Zealand, and I assume likewise in the UK, US, Canada and Australia.

It's appropriate here, because, whilst cataloguing my War of 1812 British force, I suddenly remembered, I had ANOTHER unrecorded box of US infantry. These were a "gift" from my mate Julian a while back as he had bought figures to join the project but had decided not to bother and presented them to me to paint up "for the group". I completed four regular regiments plus a militia regiment from what he provided. There are in fact a couple more regiments worth of marching regular infantry, but I really need some command figures to lead them - maybe one day I will purchase a few and finish off the rest of these figures....

Anyhoo, here they are.......

These are all based on genuine uniform combinations, but I have not bothered to name/number them.

They are just four regiments of "generic" US Regular Infantry.

For anyone interested, the gradual building and painting of this collection is recorded on my blog from approximately March 2017 to August or September the same year. Brits next time, honest!

    1. Hahah....yes, you are probably right Mat. In my defence, they re in a different place in a box marked "Animals" (because it used to contain pigs, cows and sheep for our Border Reivers games, not as a slur on our trans Atlantic friends!) so it was actually a bit of a fluke I remembered them at all!

    2. Yes, this is a troubling sign. "Animals"? Well, if the horseshoe fits...

    1. Thanks Michal. I can definitely tell they were painted at a different time, as my painting style constantly evolves/ changes!

  4. Turned into quite the force. Do name them or else they will go back to hiding. :-)

    1. Lol....better do that Joe....AND put the correct description on their box! Plenty of standard uniformed regiments to choose from in giving them a number!

  5. More great looking figures, can't believe you're blaming the Australians for burning down the white house, they'd barely got going by 1812!.

  6. Thanks Iain. Glad someone mentioned my outrageous claim....it's an urban myth I heard years ago, based on a claim that the regiment associated with setting fire to the presidents residence had come to fight in N America from the Australian penal colony and had recruited a number of men whilst stationed there! I have never checked if it's true, I just think it's a great story!

    1. It was the 1st battalion of the 44th East Essex regiment and Royal engineers who burnt the white house down, I can't find any reference to service to Australian service, there was another myth that the Toronto militia burnt it down but I don't think that's accurate either!

    4. Haha - seems like you are psychologically well suited to the role, Iain :) (It wasn't my story anyway and I have always thought it may have been an "urban legend"!)

    1. It's easy when you have about sixty A4 box files of the buggers, Scotty...maybe I should do a count....

  8. A nice gift from Julian and beautifully painted Keith. I don't have individual units catalogued, but store them together in labelled boxes which is about the extent of my organisation. How do you normally record yours?

    1. Cheers Lawrence...it was in the nature of a clear out by Julian, separately, he also donated some Battlefront FOW 15mm too.
My storage method is exactly the same as yours...just the box these overflow units are in is misleadingly labeled and stored in a different location to the others!

  9. Cracking units as always Keith, with the last one being my favourite as they are such an eclectic bunch:).

    1. No Stew, in fact, they were hiding ON TOP OF a 1800mm/6' cupboard, because it's already full and I have run out of alternative accommodation . Yes, was happy to get and paint the extra 1812 figures! ACW game on Friday at Julian's so that should be of special interest to you 😉

    2. Well I can relate. All my stuff is on tubs or boxes in the back far corner of the garage where it’s dark and full of spiders. Only heaven knows what I got back there. Plus; the garage is PACKED full of my wife’s shi- I mean stuff and it’s like an obstacle course to get back there. 😀

    3. Lol.....our garage isn't quite that bad Stew....we actually have room in it for my wife's car....my two kids cars are on our drive and mine is on the road...even though it is brand new...because mine belongs to a lease company my employer uses! I just did a count and will do a mini post...131 boxes of wargaming figures over 7 locations within our garage!

  12. There's always more...including a set of stainless steel steak knives! Nice figures by the way!

  13. Handsome troops. "but wait. there's more..." goes back at least 30 years in US TV advertising, typically associated with marketing of non brick and mortar sales of products of dubious value! :-)

  14. Great looking figures Keith. If you are brave enough maybe suggest the wife parks her car outside so you can put in proper shelving for your mini collection. 😁 Who knows what other figures are in hiding.
