Quick Update

Originally, the plan was to be at a game at Julians this evening, but that got canned at short notice due to spousal intervention (at his end!), so I came home and spent a couple of hours at the painting desk. Currently working on some FoW 15mm Brits to use in Heroes of Normandie - the ones I have are on bases that are too large for the 34mm x 34mm squares on the game board - the new additions are based on 30mm x 30mm bases,

Here are the first batch I finished a couple of days ago - more are in progress, plus the first couple of 28mm Chasseurs a Cheval from Warlord. I have posed most of them alongside some of my vehicle collection, which was assembled and painted 15 years ago (or more). There is not a lot to say about base after base of WWII infantry, so I haven't said a lot!

The platoon command base

LMG and 2" mortars

NCO Team

Rifle Team

Most of the completed bases to date - for the Heroes of Normandie scenarios, we won't need huge numbers, so this "expansion" should be wrapped up in a week or two. Quite happy with the way these smaller figures came out, as its a while since I painted 15mm!

  1. Nice work there Kieth on your 15mm WW2 British- you'll be chafing at the bit to get these chaps into a game. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Cheers Scotty. Yes, that was a bit of a disappointment but what can you do SWMBO had spoken?!

  4. Having a game cancelled at last minute is a let down, for sure. Good to see a bounce back with a meaningful painting session.

    1. Thanks Jon, it was a bit of a let down indeed. Often on a Friday evening at home, I just sit in front if Netflix or YouTube, so it was good do do something a bit more constructive.

  6. You have to forgive the odd spousal intervention as, for me at least, it happens very rarely and always with good reason. Nice work on the WWII British and the colours look spot on. Are they Battlefront figures?

    1. Thanks Lawrence, yes, we have had a good run at Julian's recently, several Friday night games in a row, so can't complain about the odd cancellation! The 15mm certainly are all Battlefront, inherited from Julian.

    1. Cheers Ray, the vehicles were done YEARS ago! They are just included here as a backdrop to the newly painted infantry.

  8. A nice compensation for a game missed--a bit of quiet time at the painting table. I very much like the look of your vehicle commanders (odd, but they drew my eye, must be my background as a tanker).

    1. Thanks Ed, I always like to have crew figures in vehicles - of course, it is unrealistic to have every tank commander poking his head out of the turret mid battle - kind of defeats the purpose of the tanks armour!

  11. Very nice Keith…
Missing a game but painting toy soldiers… not a bad result really.

    All the best. Aly

    1. Cheers Matt! Likewise today, more bloody rain, so I can probably get away with spending all day at the painting desk 😏

  13. Good use of time to go painting when ought to have been playing. Gotta adapt. 😀

    1. I am surprised you think so Syew, given your pathological aversion to painting! A game would have been better, obviously .... Like work and life, we paint to game, not game to paint 😁

  14. Lovely work there Keith and a good way to make use of your time after the last minute cancellation. Currently too easy to sit in front of the telly once my painting station (aka the kitchen table) is free for me to use!

    1. Thanks Steve. I seem to go through stages, and at the moment, I am in a painting stage! I do have the odd break but it's a while since I sat and watched a whole film or serial on TV. I know there is a new Happy Valley available, but so far, I have not felt the desire to commit X number of hours to watching it.
