And I have certainly waited for these! Ordered and paid for in January, there was an issue with the suppliers email so he missed the order until I followed up in mid to late Feb. He was very apologetic and had the order processed and en route to me (with a few free extras by way of apology) a few days later. A Royal Mail tracking number was supplied, but I was warned that it might take a month to arrive, due to the Royal Mail international hack and its repercussions....
Here is the tracking from the Royal Mail site
For those who do not know the country, this is the circuitous route the package took between 6 March when it left Truro and 4 April when it (EVENTUALLY!) departed the UK
And, just for the sake of completeness, here is the tracking if the number is inserted into the NZPost system
And what was it all about - well a nice batch of 20mm figures from Mark at Stonewall figures - a very eclectic mix of WWII stuff that I will show and tell at another time!
And the contents
Thats all tonight - might have a few painted figures to share next time - or, perhaps, another solo effort!
And if you have not seen my previous post on a solo game using Beneath Lilly Banners riles on my 2 x 2 table, please click on the "previous post" tab and have a shuffty!
Glad you got them. I feel your pain as I am still waiting for my delivery from Pendraken that was sent on 1st March 😒 Will get here eventually I hope.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ben - I thought it might be instructional for our British brethren, who seem put out if the figures they ordered don't turn up within a couple of days :)
DeleteAt least this order arrived after a modest delay. As a benchmark, Always Remember Brigade Games!
ReplyDeleteThere is always that Jon - although this time the issue was really with Royal Mail - once the parcel eventually left London, it reached New Zealand in about 7 days!
DeleteGlad to see your order arrive safely. The Royal mail has had loads of issue with posting overseas recently
ReplyDeleteCheers Scotty. My las order (from Spain) took sixteen days from collection to delivery.....
DeleteCould have been worse as Jon reminds us above!
ReplyDeleteInternational shipping is not for the faint-hearted, I remember watching the track of a book ordered from Australia that went through the Middle East and Germany before making it to USA...
That certainly seems a very odd route, Greg! My most entertaining episode of tracking was a package from Old Glory, who inadvertently put Australia as the country, rather than New Zealand! I watched it travel around various rural post offices in New South Wales, before some university educated employee of Australia Post eventually realised that Pukekohe, Auckland was actually on the other side of the Tasman Sea! It eventually reached me about a month after arriving in Sydney.
DeleteSame issues here in France and we’re only across the ruddy channel!
ReplyDeleteHaha....and, because of the tracking, we can't even blame La Poste!
DeleteAlways nice when a package arrives, especially if you've had to wait a while. I have known stuff recently that has been delivered more quickly to NZ than here in Bristol, so you never quite know what's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI hope you manage to get another solo game in as it was good to see some 2' x 2' action getting an outing:).
Thanks Steve....I do find that hard to believe....not that I am doubting your word! Pre Covid, a week to ten days was a good transit time and I once had a Front Rank order that I paid for on a Friday, turn up the following Tuesday! That was my all time record.
DeleteJust for you, another solo of some type will hit the 2x2 in the very near future!
That's crazy? Did the row the figures over?
ReplyDeleteThat's the ironic thing Ray, it spent about a week at the international mail centre in London! Prior to that, the journey from Truro to London took a couple of weeks or more. The actual travel time from London to my house, including clearing NZ Customs, was only about ten days!
DeleteI did feel very sorry for Royal Mail over that hack. I had my annual batch of paintbrushes held up for a month, but the supplier ended up sending them via DHL which was good of them. I didn't actually need them that quickly and was happy to wait.
ReplyDeleteYes it was unfortunate for them, but then, it's a big organization, so should have better cyber security! One of my gaming mates Chris is a senior manager at DHL, from what he says, I don't know if they are any more competent or organized than anyone else....they just have their own planes!
DeleteSo there was an issue with the email, but was there an issue with the payment? The two are usually intrinsically linked. Even ten days at our end is ridiculous. My best ever delivery time (pre-COVID) was a five day turn around and that includes a 24 hours of flying time and the loss of a day due to the international date line. It is just strange that a postal system that worked so well before COVID should be so bad now.
ReplyDeleteYes agreed Mark and it's applicable domestically too...even our customers are less demanding on us than they used to be and i reckon its because the end users just got to a frame of mind during the worst of Covid, that they were just happy stuff turned up at all in under a week!
DeleteJust yesterday our boss Jo shared a DIFOT that she said, three years ago would have been sub par and resulted in "questions being asked ", now, it's above average!
You certainly have some doozies in your ordering experience. OTOH, the figures look cool, eclectic WW2 sounds fascinating.
ReplyDeleteLOL Joe - I took a few pics earlier on and may well post them tomorrow :)
DeleteYour toys have certainly had the run around….
ReplyDeleteI’ve never had any issues with Royal Mail… if they can’t deliver they leave a note… telling you the have been and saying you can collect it from the local depot …
Unlike some curriers who will just chuck it in your garden…
All the best. Aly
LOL...I work for a courier company Aly, so I know all about unauthorized delivery options! A colleague is dealing with an issue now where someone claims a courier damaged their concrete drive, dropping a carton of toilet paper that weighed 5kg over his locked front gate...he even has cctv of it from his doorbell camera! Apparently the concrete was recently laid and still curing, hence gate was locked and the courier could not get onto the property to deliver it! He should have left a card, but decided to drop the carton over the gate....could be a costly decision for him but all our contractors have public liability insurance! Never a dull moment in the freight industry!
DeleteRoyal Mail has been pants of late. My mum mentioned as much recently.
ReplyDeleteGlad the mini's arrived safe and sound in the end. Interested to read they are 20mm WW2 and not 15mm like the painted Brits you've been showing us of late?
Ah yes, the famous "butterfly effect" Dai! Saw the figures, thought they were cool, bought them! Not sure if/how I will actually use them yet!
Deletethat was along wait. it's almost like a KS that you forgot about suddenly arriving. though if you're like me it'll be a few months (or years) before they get painted... 😀
ReplyDeleteLol, yeah, my friend Andrew has backed a few KS productions and sometimes, it can be quite a wait till they turn up. So far, that is one thing I have managed to avoid becoming embroiled in.....but, never say never!
