A Few ACW Infantry

As mentioned in my previous post, here are the ACW Rebel infantry I finished off for my mate Rick. He wanted them in a mixture of "ragged" or "butternut" style uniforms.

Rick had done the base colours, so I just stuck with the mixture he had started.

Not sure of the manufacturer but I believe he may have got them from the US?

The "command' figures

Two NCO's and a standard bearer

Finally, for this post, a quick update on the recent weather in Auckland

And just what is needed to cool down - a few home-grown strawberries from the garden and some ice cream!

Thanks for popping by - I have received a tracking notice from Australia Post, so hopefully the next batch 10mm Cromarty Forge figures should be here in a few days!

  2. Strawberry and ice-cream. Yummy. We are two days from winter, had our first dusting where it was all white for a morning...then gone.
Good work on the figures. Butternut is so much fun to recreate.

    1. Thanks Joe....your winter must start late, I would think it would start late Nov!

  3. Nice work on the Rebs Keith, not sure what figure range they are from but they look very decent indeed. Nothing like home grown strawberries, I had a good haul this year but unfortunately all done for this year, temperature in the North of Scotland not quite up to yours!!

    1. Thanks Donnie...a little easier to grow here than in Scotland, I am sure.....or I would not have much success with them!
Glad you like the ACW stuff too 👍

  4. Good looking, Rebs. I cannot source the figures either but Rebs in greatcoat are not often seen. Fresh strawberries and ice cream are a good way to cool down.

  5. Weather is heading in the opposite direction in these parts, but given the holiday season, we share the festive colors of the strawberries and ice cream. Good looking "ragged" bunch of secessionists, there, too.

    1. Thanks Ben, I think the strawberries probably take slightly less effort.....and are certainly appreciated more than my figures are by my wife and daughter 😀

  9. Nice work on those figures Keith which do look suitably ragged, as befits our notion of the Rebs! Temps not quite as high as yours, but certainly warm for the time of year, or maybe this is what we will have to get used to?

  10. Nice characters, sometimes I think we have got too used to the precision of plastics and the sort of generic ‘look’ that goes with that. A LOVELY 8 degrees here :-)

    1. Cheers Norm...good point too, although I personally probably prefer a lot of the plastic figures to the older metal ones nowadays... I had that conversation with a gaming buddy quite recently, actually. I wonder what others think....

  11. Lovely looking rebels and strawberries! It's funny, I like plastic figures but sometimes it's nice to paint maybe not quite so anatomically correct but characterful older metal ones, he says both having his cake and eating it whilst removing splinters from my backside!

    1. Thanks is Dean, a bit odd, you have never been tempted by ACW, given its importance in your country's history? Still plenty time though...it would work well as a skirmish Era like Sharpes Practice

The weather here is windy and grey… With a hint of…. Grey.
