More British Chariots

I have now completed all the Cromarty Forge chariots for my Ancient British collection - that's nine, plus Boudicca.

Here are the first three, completed a couple of days ago

And the second trio, finished off this evening

And a couple of views of all ten of them together

Last weekend, I also had the "pleasure" of assembling this "real life" kit!

Of course, it was not quite as simple as implied in the assembly instructions!

But I got there in the end ....... result!

Off to a game at my mate Julians tomorrow after work, so an AAR on Saturday, probably.

  1. Ah, the joys of 1to1 scale kit assembly. On the other hand, excellent chariots. Your Cromartie project is very well along and nicely brushed. Be careful when pouring, cement is nasty in the wrong place.

    1. Thank you Joe! Hopefully my concrete mixing and pouring days are behind me....the barrow is only intended for light garden use!

  2. Excellent looking chariots, I just bought a Victrix Briton army, so I'll be adding three more chariots to the seven I already have! Nice looking wheelbarrow, mine looks rather more abused!

    1. Thanks Iain...my delayed reply is because your comment had been directed to my spam folder for some reason!
Our previous barrow also looked pretty abused, right up to the point that it literally fell apart when being used to store a delivery of fire wood!

  3. More beautiful work! No body tattoos on crew?
    Best regards

    1. Thanks Michal! I decided not to do tattoos for a couple of reasons...1 I think that it was mainly the Picts in Scotland who favoured them and 2 I don't think my painting skills are up to doing tattoos on 10mm figures! 😀

    2. Ha! Right tattos on 10mm minis is a madness!

    3. I am sure some people could do it, but I decided not to bother!

  5. Those chariots are superb. Think I'll pick some up from their 15mm range

    1. Cheers Scotty I think you have mentioned the 15mm option previously. ..be good to see them by way if comparison 👍

  6. The chariots look great and the whole lot of them is a great sight, should be impressive when they go into battle.

  7. Great work Keith, on both the chariots and the wheelbarrow. Every time I put something together nowadays I always think to myself that it will be in next year's council curbside collection.

    1. Thanks Lawrence.....hopefully the barrow will last the rest of our lives....well, the part where we are capable of using one, anyway! The previous one was over 20 years old I think.

  10. Excellent work on the chariots Keith, and I reckon you have enough to do a British version of 'Ben Hur!' at some point;)! Poorly done assembly instructions drive me mad, especially when we used to get stuff from China. Even working in the industry, they were often damned hard to figure out, talk less of poor build quality which made assembly a challenge in itself:(.

    1. Cheers Steve. Assembly of the wheel barrow would have been OK if I had a couple of extra hands!

  11. I have cursed the occasional fiddly miniatures kit, but would take that over assembling any of the "implements of toil" that I've been obliged to own (like your wheel barrow). Excellent chariots!

    1. Thanks Ed....I think it is a question of motivation! Although it seemed to take forever, assembling the wheelbarrow probably took less than an hour, whereas I have spent two or three hours putting a 1 72 or 1 56 kit together.....but that's fun
      ....well, kind of! 😆
