Well, no invitation to a game at Julian's this week, so no AAR unfortunately. Instead, here are a few more of the figures painted for the fabled Pulp Project!
First up is a Chinese female monk
She is a very nice sculpt by Reaper
Next, we have a Chinese concubine for the grey and yellow faction
This is a cracking figure from Ral Partha
Number three, another Reaper figure, is a Japanese martial artist
And last but not least, a Japanese Army officer
Once again, this figure comes from the Reaper range
That's all for tonight. Looks like we are in for a rather wet weekend here in Auckland, so I may have more figures to post in a couple of days.....
The patterns on those dresses are really cool. Spot on. Didn’t like the moustache on that last bird though…oh wait…it’s a bloke. What the hell!? You paint blokes now?!
ReplyDeleteGood one!
DeleteHaha....I guess it does seem a bit like that at the moment....but wait...I just painted those burly, hairy Border Reivers!
DeleteGreat painting there Kieth- your certainly good at nailing the detail. We have had some rain recently with flooding about- just right for indoor modelling and painting figures. Stay well there in Auckland. Cheers. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev. Saturday morning and no rain, dammit! Might have to do other stuff if the weather stays like this!
DeleteGreat looking stuff sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal
DeleteSorry about no game, but your figures are miniature works of art. Really very well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark, gaming is a bit hit and miss at the moment as our country awaits a genuine surge in Omicron cases. Personally I am not too concerned but otters may have compromised immunity etc and really don't want to increase their risk of catching it.
DeleteYeah, you've really got to watch out for those damned otters!!
DeleteIndeed 😀
DeletePicture 1 - great pose and painted to bring that out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm...I was in two minds about buying that figure, as her sword is a real "fantasy" weapon, but she looks good I think.
DeleteGreat looking stuff, looking forward to a game report using all the Pulp era figures. Too bad you are out of the pool game-wise this weekend, maybe next weekend will be better.
ReplyDeleteHahaha Joe, you are like a dripping tap...I do know the whole point is supposed to be to use at least some of them in a game at some point! A few years ago, it was unusual if I did NOT have a game at Julian's almost every week, but things have changed and his availability has been reduced considerably. Also our Sunday host Barry has decided to ear on the side of caution, being in his eighties, which is fair enough too but means no Sunday games either....
DeleteMore fab work, Keith! I really like your patternwork and colors on the kimono.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, once I worked out a way to do it that looked reasonably convincing, it was quite easy to do! I think that Ral Partha figure is a beautiful sculpt too!
DeleteGreat work there and I really like the first figure, both in terms of pose and the colours you've used. Excellent stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I think my favourite might be number two but what actual use she will be in any actual game is a moot point!
DeleteWhat a great selection and I really like the grey-yellow scheme too!
ReplyDeleteCheers Dai, i thought they were a nice colour combination too!
DeleteMore lovely figures Keith, Have you done a count on this collection, and what number you are up to now?
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence and to answer your questions no and don't know! I guess it must be closing in on 100 figures over six contingents....
DeleteExcellent stuff Keith. Re the first figure: so you’ve met the wife then.
ReplyDeleteThank you ! Your wife seems a nice woman but with a fiery temper....mind you, I suppose she has a lot to put up with, just like mine!
DeleteNice work, particularly the colours on the monk
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Scotty!
DeleteSome great looking figures Keith. I do like the pose of the Japanese officer.
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray, it certainly is a very dynamic pse.
DeleteGreat job on the miniatures. When I saw the monk my first thought was “they make a Rya and the last dragon miniature? How’d they get past Disney?”
ReplyDeleteAll my Fridays are no game Fridays. I have NO sympathy for you. Just kidding of course. I know what’s it like to be anticipating a game and then it not happen. Life is dumb sometimes. 😀
Thanks Stew...my real problem is nowhere to solo game...I am even trying to figure out if i can get an old style "card" table, two or three foot square with folding kegs, that I could squeeze into the garage and have little skirmish games on! As it is, I am totally dependent on others for a gaming venue....
DeleteLovely toys Keith…
ReplyDeleteThis collection is building up quite nicely …
All the best. Aly
Very kind of you Aly, others might say this collection is out of control and when are you going to stop preparing and start doing!
DeleteNice figures Keith 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt....the Pulp Project is a great excuse for me to buy random nice looking figures that I have no definite use for!
DeleteNice figures- especially the last two who have a sense of movement. Nice brushwork too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and comments John!
DeleteGreat looking character figures, Keith. I've seen that Reaper RJW officer before - had thought about picking him up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray...I think someone else commented on him in an earlier post too, he is a nice sculpt.
DeleteLovely collection of oriental pulp figures!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks very much Iain - I have noticed my comment count on this post is higher than normal, I am wondering if thats because I have not posted for about a week and it has given everyone time to comment before I post again...?
