Desfile de La Guerra Civil Española - primera parte - Los Nacionalistas

Hurrah for Google Translate - and if you can't guess, this should say "Spanish Civil War Parade - Part One - The Nationalists"!

So here they are, Moorish Regulares, Regular Infantry, Requetes Militia, Regular Cavalry, some armour and a bit of artillery.

Los Regulares - battle hardened regular colonial infantry from Spanish Morrocco

Support weapons, a mortar and heavy machine gun

Nationalist Infantry - group one

Nationalist Infantry - group two

Nationalist support weapons

Heavy Machine Gun

Mortar

Catholic Nationalist Requetes Militia - group one

Requetes Militia - group two

Nationalist Cavalry

Armoured support - two PzKfw I flanked by the larger PzKfw II (which did not actually take part in the conflict, but I only realised that after I assembled them ....so they are in!)

I am not sure why I have not added Nationalist decals to the pair below - either I thought I might keep them as Condor Legion and do German markings...or....I just didn't finish them off properly..!

HaT WWII German supply wagon repurposed to the cause of Fascism in Spain a few years before WWII broke out

HaT Pak 36, 37mm anti tank guns

And two heavier filed pieces, again by HaT but with Minairons crew added

So thats the entire Nationalist collection - in a few days, it will be the turn of the Republicans to grace this blog - until then, hope all is well with you, wherever you are reading this, and please do take a minute to leave me your comments on these figures.

  1. A superb collection. Reminds me I need to dig mine out and get a game in with them

    1. Yes....well.... having expended a goodly sum (by my tight-fisted standards) on this collection - I have yet to get them on the table, Scotty - so the reminder is equally if not even more valid to me!

  2. Good collection, the splashes of red, just like with your Russians, really lift the figures.

    1. Thanks Norm, despite being on the "wrong" side from my point of view, I think the Requetes militia are my favorite unit!

  3. Great collection that must be used. Looking forward to the Republicans and any AAR'S in the era.

    1. Thanks Jo...might need to be a small solo effort using Great Escape Games 1914 and Iron Cross mash up!

  4. Certainly a very impressive collection you have there Keith. Having seen the 'Bad Guys' (but shockingly missing the Italian CTV;)!), I'm looking forward to how the 'Good Guys' look on parade in comparison.

As we near the Winter solstice, I can't help but wonder how nice and warm it is with you, given we have sub-zero temperatures and snow forecast. Nice though after all the rain we had in November. Maybe some more NZ tourist board photos to warm the cockles and all that;)?

    2. Thanks Steve, I have left the Eyeties out for now...they aren't in the Minairons range currently although the tanks might be....
As to inspiring pics of bright sunny New Zealand weather...if there was any sun at the moment, I would be happy to oblige!

  5. Well that's inspiring stuff Keith! I've been managing to scratch away a little time here and there to get some paint on minis myself recently so hopefully I'll be able to post up a wee parade soon too.

  6. Great to see all these arranged together Keith. Setting up a parade always involves a bit of effort, but it's nice to be able to look back on the entirety of a collection especially as all the figures are unlikely to be on the table at any one time.

    1. Thanks Lawrence, it's not a large collection but my intended rule set is on a semi skirmish level, so you may be right about them all being on the table together!

  7. One of the attractions of the SCW, to me, is the mix of exotic units, like Morrocans, etc, but also that you can still have the added dash of flags mixed in with your units as a routine feature.

    1. Totally agree Ed, a dash of colour and a few flags is one of several attractions of the inter war era!

  10. Wow! You have certainly put in a huge effort in getting this collection up to a super standard. Kieth- on another matter: you previously asked me how much did it cost to have my figures done by a professional molder and caster...Well, it isn't cheep- I had 15 Master Figures to start with and the final cost of the project to me is $501 Australian...a bit more than expected- ah, well I'll be well pleased when the final castings arrive.

    1. Thanks Kev, and that is quite an expense for 15 figures, although I realise this is the set up cost of making the mould etc....the cost per figure will presumably drop to cents each, if you wanted him to run off 150 for you....but do you need bulk figures for your current project? One of our mates ( Mark at 1866 And All That) is a talented sculptor too and even designed figures for ACW and the Italian War of Unification, he had them made but has said subsequently, it was no cheaper than buying commercially available figures. Only really worth doing if you want figures that are not available!

    1. Gracias amigo! The plan is, a version of Great Escaoe Games 1914, with very early war tank stats from Iron Cross.....if I ever actually get that far!

  13. A villainous looking collection of fellows…
The Spanish Civil War is a surprisingly colourful period.

    All the best. Aly
