Wehrmacht Motorrad-Truppenzug Completed

The last of the 1st Corps Kradschützen Truppen have been completed and the whole Zug (platoon) is now ready for presentation, so here they are:

Combination 2 - 2-man crew with MG 34

Combination 3 - 3-man crew without MG34

Combination 4 - 3-man crew with MG34

And here is the entire Motorrad-Truppenzug

4 single motorcycles and 6 sidecar combinations.

The two with rolled up sleeves are JJD 3D prints, the other two are 1st Corps metal miniatures.

Above and below, the first combination is 3D printed, the second is metal

And the final pair are both metal again.

Work has now commenced on the Crusader Miniatures infantry that will represent the dismounted Zug. I may possibly buy one more combination, a plastic kit from Warlord/Bolt Action, so I can put an officers peaked cap on the sidecar passenger, to represent the platoon commander (I already have two officers in the dismounted version!)

Thats it for tonight - painting AND solo gaming are planned for post work evenings this week, will just have to see when I feel like the third instalment of my Reivers series!

  1. Lovely work Keith and great to see them all 'en parade' :). Looking forward to seeing the dismounted troops and a possible new combo with the officer in it. Good luck on the painting and gaming front too!

    1. No doubt they would Aly...no Typhoons in 1940 ( I don't think?!)...but a Hurricane would splatter them just as effectively!

  6. I was wondering how many of these you had completed, and here they all are. Lovely work Keith and the basing on all of them looks great as well.

    1. Thanks Lawrence...I wasn't 100% sure how to do the bases...but I went with a beaten path with a few patches of weeds/grass, as I assume they would mostly stick to roads or at least well used paths!

  8. Awesome stuff. Such an unusual sight on the wargaming table (much like cavalry, but more so).

    1. Thanks Dave....I have always had a soft spot for these iconic motorcycle troops...had several Fujima or Hasegawa etc examples almost 50 years ago plus a set of two motorcycles may have been my first ever Tamiya figures around the same time (and I owned/rode a series of different road bikes from ages 16 to approximately 40!)

    1. Don't really know Bruce! I like Crossfire as a ruleset but I understand what you mean if they were fired at while in the open...you could treat them however the rules deal with troops in softskin vehicles i guess...it's years since I played, so I can't remember what happens if a truck full of infantry is hit by small arms fire....

    2. with unlimited movement for infantry , its hard to know how to approach it. Steve balagan and paul matakishi had been doing trialing some new rules ideas for vehicles where you throw multiple dice and have pins, suppressions etc and it really streamlines things compared to the old tables.
