On Sunday, I took my recently completed War of 1812 American units along to Barry's so I could use his table to lay them out for a quick parade.
To be honest I don't think the images came out all that well but here they are:
Four regular infantry battalions plus one unit of militia (carrying the correct 1812 version of the Stars and Stripes!) All the figures are by Old Glory.
Nice to see them on parade Keith:). The mix of uniforms and flags makes for some nice looking units, which is always good to see.
ReplyDeleteCheers Steve, I am not sure what went wrong with the photography - maybe it was the dingy end of Barry's gaming room, but the images are not that great. They give an ide of how the five units look together though!
DeleteOh, Great looking together!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Michal
DeletePoor photos…possibly, but thankfully my now wonky vision rendered these images in sharp focus. Lol. Nice looking units and quite a few of them too. Give yourself a pat on the back. Always good for morale to see what you’ve achieved.
ReplyDeleteI think you are being kind JBM - but that's ok, our PM has been extolling us to "be kind" for 18 months now - I don't mind but a lot of people are fed up of being kind and want to get back to being nasty, judgmental a-holes, like they usually are! Pat on the back duly given :)
DeleteA nice looking brigade on parade
ReplyDeleteThanks Scotty
DeleteParading about with somewhere to go. How many more units needed before they appear in a battle near you?
ReplyDeleteThese are just additions to the existing collection Jon, which has made it into a couple of games ....see Dec 2020 pts, for example. It will most likely be next appear at one of our Sunday games.
DeleteThey are coming along nicely, the sculpts are very characterful and your brush brings that out. Good show!
ReplyDeleteCheers Norm, appreciate your kind words!
DeleteLovely Regulars on parade, Keith! One thing you might want to try with the photos is to crop them a bit to show more of just the figures. Beautiful troops, nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, I think the main problem was lighting...the previous images of our 15mm. WWII game seemed to come out ok...
DeleteThey look great Keith…
ReplyDeleteWhen do you think they will see battle?
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly, not sure when they will debut on the table....so many wars, so little time.....! I look forward to seeing your latest 1812 unit soon.
DeleteGreat to see them all together.
ReplyDeleteThanks ray - will be even better to see the whole collection involved in a game sometime soon!
DeleteVery nice parade. Everyone loves a parade of toy soldiers. It’s good to see all that painting pay off.
ReplyDeleteThey look great. 😀
Thanks Stew!
DeleteA nice collection Keith, and it would be great to see the whole army assembled at some stage. The photos looks fine to me, but I know the feeling of assembling all the figures, taking pictures and then packing them away, only to subsequently find the lighting was off.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence - the whole army should put in an appearance on the table ONE day hopefully! When I do images at home I have the figures on my painting desk, flood lit by an angle poise lamp. The natural light at Barry's was obviously a bit dodgy at that end of the table!
DeleteGreat looking troops, better photos than I often get,in a hurry, your angle poise idea works nicely, natural daylight is a bit more variable!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain - I sometimes take two or three versions of the same image until I am happy with it - on Sunday I was half aware they weren't that great but couldn't be bothered redoing them!
DeleteVery handsome troops, and not a conflict you see gamed often!
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter...we haven't gamed it that often either, hopefully we can do so again in 2022!
DeleteWe do love a parade 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt
DeleteTis the time of year for parades (in blogs). Flags are almost always good eye candy, but I think the blue-fielded colors of the US 1812 Army are particularly striking.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed, yes the way the eagle is rendered on the blue colours is very attractive . Mind you, this is offset somewhat by the relatively plain second flag, which I have avoided using two often ( I went for one colour per unit due to figure restrictions...)
DeleteThat's good progress in short order Keith! Pleasant viewing for us and no doubt most pleasing for you?!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks James - yes, good to see some significant painting output together in one place!
