Over the weekend I have finished another two stands of the Horseguards, meaning they are now half done. Two more are partially painted and the last four are fully assembled, so hopefully should be fully completed mid week.
Here are three images plus two of Lulu, one of the main interruptions to my painting progress, as she seems very keen on wandering across my painting desk, whilst the seat I have at the desk is without doubt her favourite resting place....
Great progress! Adding blazes and socks to your black horses adds a lot of interest.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan...again, I am relying on the historical accuracy of the box artwork...they have an image of this regiment on the rear and they are all on black horses....I didn't research any further than that. That actually raises a slight criticism I have of Warlord packs in general..the lack of uniform info, in contrast to the sheet you get with Perry plastic Brits, for example..
DeleteTheir coming along nicely Keith...
ReplyDeleteMy experience with cats is that they only really want to show you attention when your attention is on something else...
“Meee-nawww.... what are you doing ... you should be looking at me... meeee-nawwww”
All the best. Aly
Cheers Aly. This is a relatively new cat ...18 months at most...our previous one would sometimes lie and sleep on the floor behind my seat, but he didn't trample over the table, dipping his paw in my cleaning water jar, chewing flag poles etc...she is very cute but a bloody pest!
DeleteGreat looking figures Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Ray.
ReplyDeleteVery nice again Keith. I believe the received wisdom is that the Horseguards were on black horses from memory, but there was some debate about whether their tails were actually docked or not.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence ....I did read somewhere that one regiment brushed the manes to one side and another regiment the other and you could trim them off then add your own with green stuff...to be honest, that level of detail is irrelevant to me!
ReplyDeleteWonderful troop of Blues!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, another pair were completed last night, only four more to go!
ReplyDeleteWhite socks look great! Warlord plastics are a bit more basic than Perry's overall I'd say, lovely looking troopers!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain, yes I agree...perry have got them just about right I think...Warlord and the old Plastic Soldier Co they took over (WSS etc) are too basic and simple, whilst Victrix in my opinion have gone too far the other way and have about six or eight parts to each infantryman...like Tamiya or Historex but far too small and fiddly in 28mm to my mind. I completed another two of these tonight so on track to finish tomorrow, now, where are my Front Rank Cacadores ?!
ReplyDeleteLooking great! Good to see such a comprehensive approach to paint, you've done horseshoes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dmitry...I did the first pair then kept forgetting them and had to go back and add them after the figures had been based!
